If they signed Kadri, they'd almost have to let either Marchessault to Stephenson go.

I'll bet they make a deal with Anaheim (that goes through this time) and get Gibson.

If you give Hague $1.4 million - that leaves them with $4.9 million in cap space with Brossoit and Thompson as goalies, 12 forwards and 7 defense (Hutton as the spare). About $4.15M if you add a spare forward at the cheapest contract (Spencer Foo)

They could do something by moving Brossoit and then whatever it would take to get Gibson - maybe a 1st round pick. They don't have a 2nd round pick this year (part of Eichel trade) but do have a 1st and an extra 3rd.

Where's your creativity? I'm sure you can just get one of them to pull a groin or something to go on LTIR

Vegas and Tampa seem to be the LTIR wizards of the league. Guessing it’s legit but the Lehner situation seems to get them out of the Eichel gongshow they created last season.

Luck? Or a strategy?

Classic Vegas. Get in a heater right out of the gate but continuing to go all in could lead to total bust. Jettisoning so many good players for the shiny new toy, now dealing with injuries to key players and gutting their prospect pool to win now leaving them with little to nothing.

The assets they bled to end up with nothing this summer is crazy. 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Tatar then Tatar+Suzuki+2nd for Pacioretty then Pacioretty + for nothing

Anaheim has cap space, and seems to be waffling between rebuild and wanting to be more competitive. Maybe Vegas sends over a bigger ticket contract with a 1st for Gibson?

Vegas seems to be in a perpetual state of go for it. I wouldn't be shocked to see them continue to empty their cupboards.

Wow, that’s tough to hear, did it just happen or was this an ongoing issue, if he’s just getting surgery now maybe they were trying to work it through and it didn’t work.

That’s the thing with injuries, puts a whole new spin on available players and what you can get in return. Not that it’s a good thing but a reality in pro sports. Flames were relatively lucky last year with few injuries besides Tanev.

The only way this helps their cap is if they can find another goalie for less than $5M (and if that goalie isn't as good - he won't be - then their team is weaker).

With Lehner on LTIR, they have about $6M in space. With that, they need 2 or 3 forwards, 1 D and a goalie.

And every other team knows that they are desperate, so no one is going to give up a tender on a friendly deal.

I just think that it’s a waste having one of them as a 4C.

I think that is what’s going to happen now. Weber and Lehner gives them about $7 mil to play with. Lehner hasn’t been good of late anyways. This could end up being very good news for them

Lehner wasn't very good and it was a huge mistake from the start but where are they going to find a #1 goalie from?

Colorado won the cup with Kuemper and Francouz. Francouz started 4 played in 7 and was 6 and 0

Vegas can start the year with Brossoit and Thompson and potentially add a vet goalie at the deadline. They way Lehner has played I’m not sure they miss him. It’s risky to go with 2 unproven goalies but depending on how much it costs to get Kadri the could have some wiggle room still

Vegas is going to be elite for the next 7 years!!!! lol They miss the playoffs again this year.

2 straight years of sucking and they would be lucky to get 12,000 fans into that building every night.
Let’s remember this is Vegas, not Arizona, so they’ll still have fans at the games.

Every time something like this happens to Vegas, I'm skeptical. Not to say he isn't actually injured but the timing of it all, you just wonder.
