I don’t think so. I think Coronato joins the big club at the end of the NCAA season. I’d like to keep our recent 1st rounded (Valimaki, Pelletier, Zary, Coronato). If we’re going to spend big, I’d be more inclined to spend picks.

I’d consider a Hanifin for Barzal swap but would want NYI to add as Barzal has trended downward since his rookie season and I doubt NYI would want to add. I can’t help but think the Flames are looking to trade though and as much as I love Hanifin I feel like he might be the piece used to upgrade the top 6.

I think NYI would want a haul for Barzal, guessing Hanifin + 1st at very least

It would save us the heartache of having to endure Coronato's trade request down the road. Konecny I feel is a guy who would thrive here.

I think Mackey makes the jump before Vallimaki

Hall for Hanifin? Sign me up. Hall's contract is very do-able, and with Sutter coaching he'd probably do very well.

Hall adds that top 6 forward that the Flames are reportedly looking for, he just had a m-ntc kick in on the 2nd year of his 4 year deal and I can’t imagine he’d have Calgary on there. For the Bruins they get a cost controlled D while gaining a little more much needed wiggle room. It’s a win-win in my eyes but those are my eyes, what do you guys think? Is it close value for both? Would you do it?

Hall is old. I wouldn’t give up Hanifin for him. Having said that I wouldn’t mind Hall on the team. He is a Calgarian.

Well the way I look at it, NYI can want a haul all they want, but ain't gonna be from the Flames. Hanifin is a top D on a good contract. Hanifin + 1st to start? Pfff....

Boston is going to need forwards after this year and beyond, not defense...their top 3 are very good.

IMHO, this trade is a win for the Bruins, they get a top D and save cap. Flames need RW and C not aging LW. I am not against trading Hanifin but it has to be a C or RW. If Hall if UFA, I wouldn't mind signing him.

Jesus, what is this boards obsession with Hall? He had one good year and is inconsistent and a LW which we don't need. Wtf...

I still would like to see the Flames keep the top 6 D intact but if they do trade Hanifin for a top 6 forward I would prefer one that's in the same age range as Hanifin, not 30 already. Also would rather it be a center as opposed to a winger.

Mission successful! Really just want to get the discussions flowing again in the speculation thread and I had read an article about the Flames and Bruins as trading partners and it naturally mentioned Hall among others. It does neatly cover all sides and opinions discussed here after my post around the notion of a Hanifin/Hall swap including how Hanifin is the more valuable asset. Part of me has always wanted Hall on this team because it would be both hilarious and glorious to see him torch the Oilers in Flames colours; I also think he’d be a beast under Sutter. Ultimately though there are more pressing needs up front than a LW so I agree with the side that wouldn’t do the swap, at least straight up.

But he hasn’t averaged 62 points in his last 4 seasons.
By my count, his last 4 seasons are:
21-22: 61
20-21: 33
19-20: 52
18-19: 37
That averages to 45.75.
You might be pro-rating them, but his games played are only:
21-22: 81
20-21: 53
19-20: 65
18-19: 30
So I’m not comfortable assuming a full season.
If you add his 17-18 MVP season with 93 points, it only brings the average up to 55.
I don’t take Taylor Hall if the give is Hanifin.

When Backstrom goes on LTIR the Caps will have a bit of cap space and sure look like a team that needs a dman.
McMichael for Valimaki and 2nd
or
Valimaki for a 2nd
Caps forwards are also looking very bad now too. They are definitely looking like a team on the verge of rebuilding so that 2nd might not be a late 2nd like in the past

Between now and the beginning of the 18/19 season, Hall is a 0.79 PPG player. Yeah, injuries are a problem but he’s a very good player.
But no, I wouldn’t trade Hanifin in a “one for one” trade for Hall. Hanifin is worth more. I’d much prefer to target a centre as well. Centre > Defenceman > Winger.

This board fell in one with Chris Stewart once upon a time. Weirder things have happened.

Youth, team control and cap hit have a ton more value these days then we are used to. Unless Hall is coming with a good pick and prospect no way to that.

This is intriguing, just so that I can say our Michael is better than your David to my nephew's friend who is a die hard delusional Oilers fan.

Oh man, I totally forgot the hard on for Stewart back in the day. Then we get him and splat. Nada.

I've always longed to see Hall in a Flames uni. I think he would he would have some extra drive playing here in his hometown, on top of playing for Sutter. Your forward lineup looks very appealing to me.

You are right I did pro-rate them however, the last season was the season he was able to play the entire year it's much more safe trading for a guy that played
half a season, half a season, half a season, full season
than
full season, half a season, half a season, half a season.
