Hmm... is it still a jersey faux pas or foul if Huberdeau actually wore it? Might be some kind of a loophole here.

2006 for an iggy trade? That's beyond obtuse.

I suspect the players care a lot less about what jerseys they wear than us fans do.

Ugh I just went down a bad rabbit hole where I revisited the '13 draft and that trade. what a whiff. Klimchuk and Poirier were the two players from the 1st round of that draft to play the least in the NHL (8 and 1 games respectively.) The third least was Hunter Shinkaruk, another flames possession. Then Sam Morin (not flames) then Kerby Rychel (yes.)
So out of the 5 players who saw the NHL least, the flames had 4 of them at one time. Hell, most players drafted in the 2nd round of this draft played more than any of those guys.

From that same draft, they also have Lindholm, Monahan, Zadorov, and had Lazar. Considering that draft was pretty shallow, the Flames have built a large part of their team around it.

Except Craig Conroy, of course. I remember him being more excited about the retro jersey first coming back in the late 2000's than the fans, lol.

Yeah, James Neil. He plays for the Banff Fighting Squirrels, on a line with Noa Hannifan and Jerome Ingila. I thought everybody knew that.

Hey.. at least guys played in the AHL. Most of the other draft picks that year didn't even make it that far. The 3rd rounder - Kanzig - barely even got in any AHL games before going down the ECHL. The only explanation for that pick was that whoever made it got hit on their head and thought they were back in 1997 or something where being 6'7 was all you needed to be an NHL defenseman.

Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau has pledged to donate his brain to science after he dies.
Huberdeau's pledge follows that of Devils defensemen Ben Lovejoy, who in December 2017 became the first active NHL player to make that commitment.

That’s why I like Huberdeau already, he probably just saw the Flames logo and put it on, good enough and not a biggie.
 |
I'm more annoyed with the Flames not sending him a box of everything he needs. C'mon man.

Shame that Shawn Monohan became such an injury ridden liability otherwise the Fighting Squirrels would be a real contender.

If I am right it is extremely commendable.

I say this as a dad that just booked a 2 hr concussion assessment for his 16 yr old son.
