Great start for Haaland today. 2 goals and looked dangerous

Yeah. Assuming that his entire goal is to win the Champions' League one more time, who is he going to go to?

Even if we assume that he'd waive a massive chunk of his wages, lets just assume that (because its probably not true) who wants him?

He's a massive distraction, he has limitations even though he is fit as all hell, he'll pot goals but he places his own ambitions above all else.

The only club in Europe I can even fathom would take that chance is PSG. They can afford him, they have a good team, they're among CL 'favourites' because they have an easy league and good players but how and where does he fit? And for a team that already have a strange culture what does the addition of Ronaldo do to them? He does bring that experience that might help them get over that final hurdle.

I hate to say it but Ronaldo is screwed. He is stuck with United and United are stuck with him. He should STFU, play his game and collect his cheques.

Maybe, just maybe they will unsuckify just enough to get back into the CL next season and give him another year?

He hitched his wagon to the wrong horse at the wrong moment to suit his ambitions.

On the plus side? £500k/week.

I haven't followed his saga that closely, is there really no interest?

One of the greatest players of all time, coming off a season where he was probably still United's best player, incredibly marketable to at least sell tickets and merchandise and no one is interested?
Seems unlikely and sounds like club spin.

And I forgot about McFred. Thats gonna be grim.

But surprise, surprise, nobody wanted United's castoffs for money this window and the money that Ten Hag had to spend didnt really get it done.

Even if FdJ gets done at some point, its not going to be enough.
Apparently FdJ says he’d only go to a big club though, so United probably doesn’t fit the bill!

The only way to have a shot at moving Ronaldo is some kind of loan where Untied pays £350k a week to get it done. It’s weird though, because not only is that a lot of money, but they also seem to need him still. It was a pretty poor message to bring him on at half time to try to get it going this weekend.

If Ronaldo wants out, he needs to drop two things:

1. His attitude

2. His wages

He’ll never drop #1, so that rules out #2.

I mean, the options are pretty limited from the outset. You'd need a club that a.) plays in the UCL (that's his whole reason for wanting to leave), b.) has the financial muscle to pay his wages, c.) actually have a need for him up front. That leaves very, very few options. There's been some mutual interest about a move to Atletico, but their fans have already staged protests against that (since he's played for Real for so long). There were reports that Boehly was interested in bringing him to Chelsea, but Tuchel doesn't want him, so that's off the table too. Bayern have categorically ruled out a move as well. So who's left? PSG could easily do it, but they already have Neymar, Mbappe and Messi ... that would probably put them over the edge in terms of drama and clashing egos, so I doubt they'd seriously consider it. There's just no realistic option out there. Maybe a move back to Italy, but he'd have to give up a good chunk of his wages, I guess.

Yeah there is no viable path for him out right now, and barring a top team going through an injury crisis in the next three weeks there doesn't seem likely to be a path for him out. Best case for him is to hope by the January window there is a team or teams who will need him because of injuries or whatever. Good news for United is the World Cup should keep him motivated if nothing else, so he should still have some value by January.

A team like Napoli would probably take a flyer, but he'd have to cut his wages or Man U would have to cover some.

They bailed on their pursuit of Arnautavich pretty quick. Little blowback from the supporters or did their transfer manager finally sober up?

I couldn't decide if it was funnier that they sign him, or funnier that they couldn't get the deal done.

I don’t get how Man U didn’t seem to have any type of back up plans to upgrade the midfield after De Jong said no.

Take the truck load of money and try to get Barella or Milinkovic-Savic or somebody.

Who in this United team is even worth keeping long term? Can't judge the new signings obviously, but otherwise they still need a ridiculous amount of new players to get to the level of Man City. They have Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal next so this could spiral quick.

They're getting the boots put to them by Brentford on the back of a loss to Albion.

Ten Hag is probably thinking: "I put on pants left Amsterdam for this?"
