I know it was recent. Was an embedded video and I believe it was loubardias on a radio show or podcast. Searched for it but cannot find it. If someone saw it and can post it would be appreciated.

I don't mind how the team is set up with so many contracts expiring in 2024...Lindholm you try to extend at the first opportunity; hopefully keep Tanev/Backlund at slightly reduced rates; Toffoli/Zadorov can play out in various ways (extend/trade/expire)...
which leaves Kylington and Hanifin. I think we need to see more of OK to make a determination there, but I think an early extension could be in the cards.
I think they need to make up their mind on Hanifin sooner than later. The best argument for Hanifin is that most D-men in the league are worse than him...but I'm not sure he's that hard to replace (albeit at a downgrade) via UFA - I think I'm okay with a Leddy/Chiarot/Kulak type for $4-5M instead of Hanifin at 6.5-7.5M, assuming he'd even want to extend here.
Hanifin also seems likely to have the best trade value.
Hanifin+
for
Mercer+Ryan Graves (seems like a poor man's Hanifin?)
Not sure what the + would have to be...probably Zary?
Yup just search "Rod Pedersen show Loubardias" on google or Youtube, Lou was on it the other day talking about Huberdeau. He had a brief comment about Brad not being done, no specifics. Rod commented "it sounds like you know something"

I wouldn't have a huge problem giving Crouse a 4x4. He certainly hasn't earned $5m, though.
$4M for a career high of 34 points? Hit the 20 mark once which was his last year. I see he has some good size, but what else makes him a good target? Genuinely asking, don't know much about his game other than him going on goal streak run last year.

Yeah, it seems like he is being overrated a little. I think what the Coyotes are offering is fair.

Any four-year deal Crouse signs would eat up two UFA years. He reminds me a little of a younger Josh Anderson — good wheels, physical, really good shot.
He had a really down year in 2020–21 but has otherwise been following an encouraging trajectory in the NHL. He was a pretty high draft pick in 2015 and has turned into a strong middle-six power forward.
It's also important to note that the arbitration filings are for a one-year term. So while a one-year deal at $2.5 million might be close to fair value, he'd certainly command more on a multi-year deal.

Skip to 5:30 where Lou says he thinks there could be one big move left. Says one more top 6 piece needed around 8:30.

Thinking more about a Hanifin trade...getting back a good forward and young(ish) RHD heir apparent to Tanev might be the ideal:
Weegar-Andersson
Kylington-Tanev
Zadorov- _____
Mackey-Meloche
Valimaki
LAK are similar to NJD with too many F's and a need at LHD. Sean Walker is a 27 yo RHD (but has played left side, too) coming off ACL surgery...short but stout, great wheels (at least pre-surgery) and plays physically, but apparently more of a puck mover. 2x2.65M. Kinda sounds like a poor man's Weegar.
All that said, he'd be the 'throw-in' in a deal for a good young F from LAK.
I would probably be looking to trade Valimaki to a team with a defensive prospect deficit, for a high pedigree forward that is progressing more slowly than a team might want. That way you have a high probability of a bottom six contributor with the lottery ticket of being more. Also, you don't have to immediately play the guy at an NHL level.
I'm looking at Dallas, who have monsters in Johnson and Bourque that have pushed Dellandrea and Damiani down the depth chart. They are both waivers exempt for this year.

Thanks Scorp-I’ve been talking about Crouse in here for a few years now. You just know Darryl would love him, and would use him the right way. We could use some beef, too.
I liked Crouse in his draft year, but it seems like he has been pretty disappointing production wise. I get that he is a big kid, but is he really much better than Dube?

He was just coming into his own this year, before he got injured with 20 goals and 34 points in 64 games. He’s 6’4” and skates well, plays good D, and is physical. I don’t care what anyone says, you need size and physicality in the playoffs, and Crouse has the intimidation factor that Dube lacks.

Crouse is much better than Dube. His progression has been steady and he was a strong complementary winger in a top-six role for the first time last season.

If his D is reasonable, that is definitely a point in his favour over a Dube. I am just trying to judge value. $2.5-$3.5 doesn’t seem too far off, depending on term.

Dube hasn’t cracked any top 6 time that I can remember, and still put up similar numbers. I am just not sure the progression is that different. Convince me.
