not sure if anyone picked up on this, but he said I'm very excited to be "working" for Sutter. Not "playing" but "working" - I like that and I think it really shows how he approaches things and the game and how he's not just going to slack off now that he has his big contract.
While I do agree this is indeed the case, just a cautionary tale not to read too much into exact words from Huberdeau, whose English is good but not great for literal translation.
Huberdeau felt the love. His comments and presence make Calgary a preferred destination again on the trade and free agent market. And this Johnny is ready to get down to business.
I wonder if this is our Captain speaking here. Was weird going a whole season without one, and I can't think of someone better suited whos locked up long term.
What was weird about it? Because I can't think of how the absence of a designated player to wear the letter "C" on his jersey had any perceptible impact on what viewers and fans saw during games.

It may not have made any difference but it was unusual, uncommon,....weird.
Rangers haven't had a captain since 2018, doesn't seem to do them any harm. Sabres and Coyotes also rolled without one last season. It's a bit unusual, but I don't really see a problem with it.
