Yup. Still a huge week for him. Pretty much a lock to make the BMW.

Sloan left some points on the table with a lonely birdie today. He's played well at Sedgefield and will need to do it again to keep his card the easy way.

Gligic is in trouble, I think he needs to make the cut or he's off to KFT finals.

Best week of the year next week.

The Wyndham.

Last week of the regular season.

Nothing more satisfying than watching a tour pro grind over a 4 footer to have a job next season.

Well, here we go:

Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and nine other golfers suspended by the PGA Tour for joining LIV Golf have filed an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour on Wednesday.

In addition, three of those golfers are seeking a temporary restraining order from a federal judge that would allow them to compete in the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs

This is a UFA signing a huge contract to play for another team and then suing his old team for... what exactly?

One of the challenges for the LIV Golf players, according to Craig Seebald, a partner and antitrust expert at Vinson & Elkins law firm, is proving injury. Many of the players who left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf received guaranteed signing bonuses of between $100 million and $200 million.

"Normally, when you're representing plaintiffs, you say, 'Oh my God, our plaintiffs are so hurt. They're so injured. They're going out of business," Seebald said. "But the allegation in the complaint is that to get these players across the transom to be part of LIV, they had to overpay them. They were surprised they had to pay all these upfront payments to get people over. I guess they're saying that makes it hard in the long term for them to be viable, despite the fact they have the Saudis giving them millions of dollars."

Seebald believes it will be difficult for the three LIV players seeking temporary restraining orders to participate in the FedEx Cup Playoffs to get them. Seebald did note that the Northern District of California is a popular choice of venue for antitrust plaintiffs. It's the same court that essentially blew up the NCAA's amateurism model in the Ed O'Bannon case.

"I think the chances are pretty slim that they're going to do that [issue a restraining order]," Seebald said. "This is essentially a money case. I think the court would say, 'Look, we can sort out the money later. This is a big case.' The judge might not want to just kind of jump in without knowing many of the facts before doing something that extraordinary."

I suspect the fact they signed guaranteed money contracts with LIV will be their undoing in this lawsuit. Tough to make a compelling argument for damages from a merit based tour when you just got millions in guarantees from another tour that does not requite merit to be on it. But I can't imagine the PGA really wants to go through discovery, although the same is said for the players. Getting a peak at Phil's finances is probably not what he wants.

It seems more like if Steph Curry, Lebron James and Kevin Durant took 100 million to play in the Big3 league in prime time during basketball seasons and weren't expecting any pushback from their teams or league.

Here's the PGA letter to their members.

Ben Silverman started bogey, bogey and then made 10 birdies to go -8 in Utah.

Probably needs to win to make KFT finals.

Here we go. Austin Smotherman is 125 in the Fedex Cup standings coming into this week. He's currently T66 -1 with an 11 foot putt on 17 for birdie. There are 23 other guys also at T66. If he either birdies 17 or 18, he's not only into the weekend but knocks out 23 other guys.

SUSPENDED BY DARKNESS!

He'll sleep on it.

Probably not surprisingly, missed the putt then blew up on 18. So misses the cut entirely. That's PGA Tour pressure for a rookie.

Remember Mackenzie Hughes' famous green side bunker shot and subsequent pressure par put from a few feet away? I was sweating just watching it!

That was painful to watch. Thankfully he can go to KFT Finals to try to get his card back. If not he will probably get 12-14 starts next year from the 126-175 category, but it will be lots of last minute travel plans + Monday Qs.

It's not the missed cuts that hurt these guys so much, it's more not capitalizing on weeks when they are in the mix. One putt can turn a top-25 into a top-20, those extra points are so, so valuable at the end of the season.

Really like the changes for next season only qualifying the top 70 for the playoffs. Should increase the quality of the fields for the summer events.

So it seems no one else has been attending the Shaw Charity Classic this weekend? What an outstanding showing this year with the $10 early bird tickets celebrating 10 years.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were up there with their best years in the 40-45k range for attendance. The galleries around Wier and even more so for John Daly and Fred Couples resembled a PGA tour event. Probably a good 5k around Daly at times, it was crazy. It was a mad dash of thousands making decisions on whether to sit mid fairway and watch approaches or race up to greens to get a close spot.

Man that was tough to watch Faldo signing off yesterday. I will definitely miss him.

Almost as tough as watching Justin Lower face the media moments after bogeying the 72nd to lose his card.

Tricky Rickie is Mr. 125 and keeps his card saving him from blowing one of his remaining money list exemptions.
