To the worriers and chicken littles, enjoy it for the next 6 years. You will likel be dead of a stress related illness long before this contract is a problem

Only bad thing about this is not getting to hear Boomer talk about it in the morning.

An eight year $10.5M deal? He'll be 38 when this deal runs out and will have $84M in earnings from this contract behind him. That will career earning of almost $120M. Didn't require much except to throw that offer on the table.

This isn't even misery. I just don't like the deal and feel.it will hinder the team. Go Flames Go though.

Superstar to me means top 10 player in the NHL and hall of Fame caliber

Nothing wrong with being a star and extremely excited for him to have signed

But In a perfect world he’s your #2 best player . Either a #1 D, or Center as your superstar

Or an all world goalie who steals multiple playoff game / series

Florida had Barkov and still felt they should upgrade to MT and include 3 other pieces

I meant more along the lines of JH hadnt even set foot in the city as his new home. As the first sentence of my post indicated....
Also on the open market next year he would have gotten just as much, if not even more depending how this season went.
Thanks for the input Lanny.

Dude.

He's 2nd in scoring last year, and top 10 over the last several years. I think it's safe to say he's an A level players.

Jesus.

I think he's too busy worrying about Nurse's contract.

And, when the contract may start to get iffy 5 or 6 years down the road Montreal will overpay to acquire him if they really want him and or the French press requires the GM to have the team become more francophone.

Solid work by Treliving, clearly well respected by other GMs and agents, if not before, certianly after this chain of events on offseason. And ownership for stepping up to put $ where the mouth is.

Florida isn’t necessarily all that smart.

I agree it’s better to have a stud C than a stud LW. But Chicago won cups with Kane as the best player. Kucherov is arguably TB’s best player (yes with a stud goalie). Calgary went to a final with Iggy as the best player (albeit with Kipper). Speaking of which, I still have faith in Markstrom.

I haven’t seen if full details were released, but i really hope they were smart enough to front load the #### out of the deal. Make him as cheap to offload as possible in the last couple years.

Everyone acts like 34-37 year old players can’t remain insanely productive. This upcoming season will be Ovechkin’s 37 year old season. Patrick Kane will be playing his 34 year old season. Martin St. Louis was well over a point a game at 37. Evgeni Malkin just signed a four year deal at 36, and Letang at 35. The list is endless. I bet this deal ages far better than most of you are expecting. This is a player who relies on his incredible IQ, elite passing, and strong passion for the game.

Any Oilers fan worried about this contract needs to take a look at the 8 x $9.25 they are paying for a 2nd pairing defenseman.

He’d probably pair well with a defensively responsible center with 40 goal hands - if we had one that would be great
