If ever there was a time to grab Necas it's now, if Brad waits they will either figure it out or he will already be on another team.
If eligible I would even go as far as an offer sheet.

Well, they were still very over the cap with Eichel and basically the cost seems to be Pacioretty, Tuch, Krebs, Coghlan, and 1st rounder for Eichel. Per Jesse Granger who covers VGK.

I think the real thing with today is that trades don't frequently happen on UFA day.
And two it's probably a lot harder to attract UFAs when Gaudreau is gone and Tkachuk's status is in limbo.

Also moving out Dadonov and paying Weber to be on LTIR.

But the Flames were idiots not to be in on that deal. Right?

Including Pacioretty as part of the Eichel deal to make the Flames off-season seem better?
They had cap to ice the roster with Pacioretty since Weber is on LTIR. Going to have include Pacioretty's replacement as part of the Eichel trade then.

Apparently so.
I always particularly liked the argument that the Flames needed to trade for Eichel because it was so obviously stupid and would force them into a rebuild.

They actually did not have the cap to ice a roster with Pacioretty, because they were already over the cap with just 15 players (plus Weber, who can't play).

I'd easily give up the 2023 first if I know.Chucky is staying.
Necas is one of the fastest players in the league, is responsible on both ends of the ice and can produce. Odds are that we don't end up drafting a player like him in the late teens/early twenties.

Over the cap with 3 players on IR including Weber's LTIR.
They had about 5M to sign Hague, Koolesar and Roy, and go over the cap by Weber's cap.

Not really true. They reupped Reilly Smith that made the Patches deal necessary.

Country club atmosphere in Vegas?
https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/max...183603648.html
Quote:
Pacioretty admitted he experienced a weird feeling shortly after being traded to the Golden Knights in 2018. It was something he hadn’t encountered previously in his lengthy NHL career.
“When I first got to Vegas, it was weird that there was, like, no accountability,” said Pacioretty. “And I’m not talking about in the team; I’m talking about like ever. You couldn’t feel pressure coming off anyone else, from the coach to the management.”
The Golden Knights missed the playoffs last season for the first time in their existence, which its fanbase wasn’t overly pleased about. Before the players went their separate ways for the summer, Pacioretty took it upon himself to demand better of everyone in the room.
“I mentioned that at the end of the year that no one is really holding us accountable,” Pacioretty explained. “If we have a bad year like this, the city would be half on fire in Montreal. Here in Vegas, it’s 80 degrees, and it’s sunny. We’re getting our car washed and getting our organic food, and going to play golf.
“I was kind of like, ‘we’ve got to police this thing a little better amongst each other.’ I don’t want to say it was a country club, but you have no one from the outside holding you accountable.”

Compare the work ethic and success of the golden misfits to the revolving door of superstars and the worsening results since that cup run.
He isn't wrong.
Their owner is missing the big picture and that's trickling down. They'll never win anything on their current path.
