That would make them ~6 million over the cap now (not counting the Smith circumvention).

No sir, I mean. Klefbom on IR on capfriendly. So they will free up 6.4 with Klefbom and Smith.

They still only have 11 forwards signed and are now too close to the cap to even add a league minimum 12th.

Ryan McLeod should be another 1.4 or so on a one year contract. Then they will have to sign Bouchard next offseason with next to no cap space. Bouchard should be primed and ready for an offer sheet if he has one more season like the one he just had offensively.
