After submitting their respective proposals earlier this week which reportedly featured quite the gap in salary, the New Jersey Devils and forward Jesper Bratt found some common ground on Wednesday morning before an arbitrator could make a ruling, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract extension worth $5.45 million.

With his performance last year he probably wants in the neighborhood of 8 to lock in long term, I'm betting the Devils just aren't ready to commit that to him yet until he does it again. Also for a guy with options opening up maybe he doesn't want to go back to a bad team until they seem to be turning the corner. Could see him being moved next summer.
