A 3x more expensive Nurse means they think they're getting 3x the player?

Most teams have their own Valimakis in their system. It’s questionable if he’s even an NHLer. He has very little trade value.

I would say no to Hoffman. A declining 32 year old making $5 per doesn’t seem like good value. I suspect Mtl. would give him away.

I'm not sure I agree with that statement however I certainly agree Valimaki will not crack Calgary's blueline for at least 2 years with the depth ahead of him. I think as elite prospects and sites like that show there is a variety of talent in team pools and no teams prospect group checks every box.

Columbus just paid a good 5-6 defenseman top 4 money at $4 mil a year for 4 years. I suspect their prospect pool isn't so hot on defense for example. Could be wrong. Not every teams pro scouts are on the ball.

The kids big and can skate and not every team has size that can skate. Keep in mind this is exactly where everyone was on Kjillington 2 years ago.

I bet 8-10 teams wouldn't mind trying him for a spin. The coaches we had prior to Sutter played him.

Value? 2nd? 3rd? a young winger who could use a change like Valimaki could?

Hoffman with 2 years remaining on is deal lines him up with the bulk of other players deals expiring around that time. He played with Huberdeau, might be nice to have him on that wing for familiarity.

While yeah, at that age he would be declining, I'm not sure last year also wasn't the result of playing on an awful Montreal team. Worth a shot, cost would be low, and doesn't hamstring the cap.

He wouldn't necessarily be my first choice, but he makes some sense.

I'm certainly not suggesting Bailey would (or should), but it's folly to think Huberdeau replaces Gaudreau and we're good.
We still need another guy that can make great/sneaky passing plays.

Huberdeau is all about the pass and is a better passer than Gaudreau or Tkachuck, it's incredible to watch at times. But the bigger question will be how to replace the chemistry they had together, they were one of the best lines in hockey.

There's an "Evander Kane" background issue with him however who knows where that stands now. This team is clearly 2 middle 6 forwards short so depending on how Hoffman fits team wise and his defensive play he could be an option. Anyone know if Montreal wants him out???

Not to dredge up an old topic but this never really found a resolution. I mean, we still don't know and there hasn't been any other issue on other teams that we know of. Not really an Evander Kane, IMO.

As for Montreal, they're looking to clear cap and this wasn't a Hughes trade. I assume they'd be very open to it.

Phil Kessel at this point in his career is not going to go play in Derpville. There is no chance, he is much more likely to sign a minimum contract to go play again in Arizona or some other sunny destination.

They honestly believe they are just going to slot Broberg in Keith's place and all will be well.

Sounds like they’ve had all kinds of trouble in their negotiations. I bet he’s traded in a “hockey trade” for someone they figure they can deal with.

Not sure what he is looking for long term. Or where he sees himself.

So roster is finally starting to take form.

Still hoping Brad can swing a deal or two to acquire a top six forward and maybe Nicolas Roy.

Run with this :

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Konecny
Coleman-Backlund-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Ruzicka-Roy
Pelletier-Rooney-Lewis

Hanifin-Anderson
Zadarov-Weeger
Kylington-Tanev

I really like that roster, maybe even more than last season.

Pretty sure that ended up being Mrs. Karlsson not realizing other people could make accounts and pretend to be other people. Hoffman's girlfriend testified under oath that she didn't do anything and Melinda Karlsson refused to provide any evidence to the contrary. Police found nothing, the Hoffmans wanted to get the account names to show IP addresses. Eventually Hoffman's girlfriend just dropped it (she was the one opening the legal proceedings) probably because she's a good person.

The Karlssons were going through an emotional time but honestly it sounds like the Hoffmans were the normal people and they were the ones being bullied by the group. Like the Hoffmans wanted to send flowers when the tragedy occurred but the mean girl group of the Senators told them off.

Stuff I didn't know and likely wouldn't have spent the time finding out!
