If Huberdeau and Weegar come in at $18 mil or less the Flames would still have $9 mil cap space next summer and 16 guys signed with no real expensive RFA's to worry about. I'd love to see them use a bit of that this summer.

Valimaki, Dube and 2nd

for

Necas

Bridge Necas for 2 years $4.5 mil

Yup, the Isles played a variation of the trap most of the time. Not a great system for producing offense.

Chucky was an underrated passer as well. If Huberdeau replaces Gaudreau, who replaces Chucky's playmaking?
I'm certainly not suggesting Bailey would (or should), but it's folly to think Huberdeau replaces Gaudreau and we're good.
We still need another guy that can make great/sneaky passing plays.

^ which is why Bailey on the 2nd line would make sense. A Bailey - Monahan - Toffoli line could be something. Bailey also shows up during playoff time.

I would like to see Pelletier with Backlund/Coleman. Help the youngster out. Backlund seems to be a rookie whisperer, did it with Tkachuk and the Mangiapane. Mangi, Monahan, Bailey would be interesting. I think somebody to play on that line is needed.

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Pelletier - Backlund - Coleman
Mangiapane - Monahan - X
Lucic - Rooney - Lewis
Ruzicka

Dube traded to make cap space.

Maybe that is where Stastny fits in

I'm not really familiar with Bailey beyond recognizing his name.
Seems like he's been around forever.

I would prefer Stastny. Maybe just familiarity with him always playing so well against us.

Ya, I would love for them to pull that off as well, except that won't get it done.

The Wild’s D doesn’t look great. Gologoski is close to the end of the road, so the drop-off is pretty steep after Brodin, Spurgeon, and Dumba. And Guerin has been rumoured to be shopping the latter.

Target would be M Foligno. 6-3 wingers who pot 19 goals and play a physical and defensively responsible game don’t grow on trees. Especially when signed at $3.1 mil for two more years. The Wild no doubt value him highly (he’s a big part of the culture and wears an A), but they have Boldy making a push at RW. So they might be willing to move him for Kylington.

This is not the trade rumor you are looking for. Looking for a forward, not a d.

https://www.nhltraderumor.com/minnes...a-forward/?amp

Montreal needs d. They have Dvorak and Hoffman (who played in Fla). Vancouver needs d too but are we interested in garland? Don’t think they would give anyone else in their top 6 up.

I had suggested before Valimaki for Hoffman. Valimaki gets a chance with the Habs and Hoffman is as pure of a goal scorer as there is. If he plays with Huby on the top line I think he flirts with 40 goals easily.

I don't disagree that we could use someone else whose a good playmaker. Replacing one 100 point plus forward was hard enough (many didn't even think it was possible), let alone finding another decent playmaker given that there's just $1.2M left baring some sort of big trade happening.

I wonder if he ever played with Huby during his two year stint in Florida. He scored 36 and 29 goals in those two years.
