I wouldn't have guessed Mang is "already" 26. Feels like he's 23 or something.

If he gets 20 goals that’s still market value for that production.

Most likely they cannot use this window on Monahan if he is still considered injured.
Isn’t the only buy out that makes sense be Mony? If they can’t use it on him the. I don’t see them using it on anybody.

I like this deal a lot but that's probably because I'm not as sold on Mangiapane as some others might be and I'm not sure he can be a 65-70 point guy long term, which is what I'd hope to see if the number was 6.5+. Glad he's locked up and hoping he outpeforms this contract forcing the Flames to pay him even more, later!

Love the player, love the Brad. I don't see any reason he should get more then Kempe's 4x5.5. So, slightly disappointed but overall not too bad.

This term makes the most sense for Mangiapane - 3 years takes him to 29 where he can try to get one more big deal before he’s 30.

You are probably looking at $7M to get him locked up for 7 or 8 years because at that case this is pretty much his last big contract if it expires at 34.

I would have loved a $6 x 6 or something like that but I doubt hes signed today in that scenario. He could have went to arbitration the next two years and just walked himself right to UFA.

I love it that Tre keeps deals short. Long term contracts, more often than not, come back to bite you in the ass. Keeps players focused on performing. And if they turn out to be on the decline, we haven’t invested 5-8 years in them.

Only superstars should get long term deals because they’re basically irreplaceable.

When I saw Kylington contract I was guessing 3 years $5.5 mil. This is a great deal. Term isn’t great but I’m not comfortable giving him $7 mil either

Kylington and Mangiapane cap hit is less than Monahan and Lucics deals.

If Huberdeau and Weegar sign next summer could be a big summer. This team could really load up

If they don’t we could be selling off a bunch of guys who have favourable cap hits making them easier to move

It's possible. Not worth much cap relief though. May as well hold him

Yeah for the “re-build” crowd this isn’t a bad thing. Keep guys locked up cheaper for 2-3 years and re-assess from there.

I really dig the term. Short enough to become a great asset if a rebuild springs up.

These signings got me thinking they have the acquisitions lovked up now too.

Nice to see some clarity and where they can make a move or not.

I’m actually fine with this contract. I really like him as a player, but I don’t know if he’s gonna keep that pace up. I think he hits 15-18 goals this season

Interesting to speculate why 3 years. His underlying metrics say this season wasn’t a fluke in terms of chances/ production. Maybe shooting % comes down but he didn’t even have PP time. Mangiapanne seems like a safer risk to go longer term. Why not pay up and use some cap for some UFA years? Hmmmm……

Not likely, that contract is essentially buyout-proof.

If Ruzicka was smart, he would demand a 1-year, 1-way deal at close to the league minimum.

It would make keeping him the NHL all year an easier decision on management. There would not have an impact on the cap and he wouldn't economical to send down.
