Lifetime Suspension

@AdamSchefer
Seahawks’ WR DK Metcalf is signing a three-year, $72 million extension that includes $58.2 million guaranteed, per source. Deal includes $30 million signing bonus, the highest ever for a WR. Metcalf will be a free agent again at 27 years old.

The guy is a physical specimen and can run like a gazelle. But, does be get his nose dirty like a Baldwin and like running inside routes and getting hit. Nope.
Far too much $ for him, Wilson targetted him as Wilson always has his favourites. Lock or whoever may force it to him. But is he the go to guy if it's not a go route or a jump ball in back of endzone? Nah.
They have Lockett for that go route guy.
Hopefully he proves me wrong.
But, he is a FA and won't be a Seahawk after this year or next with a 3 year deal. Denver should start clearing cap space becuase that's where he will want to go.

It's weird that you constantly #### on Seattle's best players. You guys are going from a perennial playoff team when Wilson was healthy to a likely top 5 pick this year and now you want to lose Metcalf, too?

Tyler Lockett is Seattle's best reciever. Last year, similar number of receptions. More yards, more efficient, more yards per game.
Seattle hasn't won more than one playoff game a season since losing to the Pats in the SB. That's winning only 3 playoff games in the last 8 years. That also coincides with Wilson taking up $30+MM of the cap. Before that second contract, Wilson (and the teams he was on) won 6 playoff games in his first 3 years. Those years there was a much more well rounded roster, with all that extra cap room that the QB, or any other star player, wasn't taking up.
Chris Carson just retiring is a hit too. A workhorse that Wilson needed when Lynch left.
And yeah, not a fan of Adams either and his overinflated salary.
PC and JS built the team up to what should've been back to back Superbowl wins, in 4 seasons, by committee, not by getting or keeping highly paid players eating large cap space. They have to get back to that and, sure, the element of luck to find a QB as they got lucky with Wilson so low in the draft.

Lockett is also 29 this year, the same age Baldwin was when he retired. DK is 24 and has more TDs in the first two years of his career than Baldwin had over his first four. I liked Baldwin, but pretending those two are even in the same stratosphere is nuts. Locking a guy with his production at such a young age up is a no-brainer, especially if you end up drafting a young QB next year.

You guys have also played the 4th most playoff games since 2014 and won the 5th most during that time. That doesn't happen if you have Andy Dalton at QB.

Kind of funny (or sad) that Watson gets 6 games for sexual misconduct of 20+ women, meanwhile Calvin Ridley got a 1 year suspension for a $1500 parlay bet.

Six games isn't a huge surprise for the judge's ruling, basically mirrors the Zeke suspension a few years ago. Now we'll see if Goodell is willing to go over the top and risk a fight with the union to try and get more games, since ultimately he can still act unilaterally if he wants.

The bigger? issue is that Cleveland structured the contract to be suspension proof. He will only loose $300k in salary from the suspension
$15 million in lost salary would have been a lot more impactful

Why would he? Watson brings in eyeballs. Goodell probably wanted 0 games but the arbitrator said 6.

^Seeing as this is the same commissioner who suspended arguably the biggest star in the history of the sport for deflating some footballs, I kinda doubt that logic. But there would probably be a good amount of public support for increasing the punishment, so it'll be interesting to see if he takes the protecting negative PR approach.

I definitely think Goddell tacks 4-6 games on to show some "muscle", and I think CLE and Watson expect it as well.

What a cluster#### for the NFL. I don’t understand why the retired judge would refer to sexual assault as “non violent” - I see non-consensual sexual behaviour as inherently violent even if it didn’t involve punching, kicking, etc.
I also don’t understand why she is referring to precedent when she was specifically brought on board to get away from a history of problematic suspensions by the NFL.

Disgusting. The NFL should face boycotts and advertiser boycotts

I'd be absolutely fine with the league throwing the book at teams for this kind of #### if they, you know, wouldn't come up with joke suspensions for certain other things at the same time. Ridley is banned for a year for betting, Watson gets 6 games for two dozens of sexual misconduct allegations, Dolphins lose a 1st and 3rd for tampering. Find the mistake.

I could have sworn that last offseason you and Da_Chief were arguing with me that Lockett wasn't even a clear cut number 2...
