Term is a year light but the AAV came in lower than expected. Hoping Mangiapane gets done soon and we can see how much $$ the team has left to make moves. Stastny? Trade a D for F?

Walks him to UFA, but I really like the cap hit for the two years that we have him for.

If Mangiapane got $5 mil for 2 year it’s also not ideal term but that leaves $1.8 mil space. If you traded Lucic that $7 mil for Kadri.

Good deal for both parties. Kylington now has to step up and play his ass off.

I would have preferred to pay a bit more for a 4 year deal. The downside is walking him to UFA, the upside is it should still be a year before the cap jumps.

Jacob Markstrom, Blake Coleman, and Rasmus Andersson are the only players we have under contract beyond the 2023/2024 season.
That’s pretty wild. Outside of 3 players, everyone on our team may be gone in two seasons.
...almost as if some sort of wizard opened some sort of window or door for a specific amount if time.

Hanifin, Zadorov, Tanev, and Kylington are all UFA in 2 years now...don't love that.

The cap hit on this is very good but that's what we get with a deal that takes him straight to UFA.
Still shocks me whenever I look at our players salaries and Monahan at 6.375 is our highest paid player and we struggle to add players because we're so close to the cap.
Meanwhile, it seems teams like Vegas, Florida, Tampa have unlimited cap space.

Garbage deal.
If the team doesn’t use the cap saved by bridging him towards bringing in an impact player I’m just speechless.
Also, are the Flames owners trying to sell the team? Having everyone’s contracts ending at the same time seems like an ideal time to change owners and or location. Not good.

Looking at the short and long term cap structure of the team I really believe that Kadri will be a mistake unless that $7M is on a 3 year term.

Florida just moved Huberdeau and Weegar partially for cap reasons.
As for Kylington, I would've liked to put some more chips in the pot.

There goes Brad again, being too tough on players in RFA negotiations. Just wait for this to backfire when Kylington leaves as a UFA!

$2.5 for 2 years is great. This year is the key. He'll need to improve or at least repeat last year (perhaps without Tanev), to really cash in.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

In 2 years, like 3/4 of the players on the team are going to be UFA. Flames will have a ton of capspace then, barring us extending Huberdeau and / or Weegar.

I don’t think we should blow the whole $7 mil on Kadri. I’d go longer term but less AAV. If you can get him for less than Monahan makes then he’s replaced
I don’t want Kadri at $7 mil unless the term is 2 years or less. Too risky giving him that much. Rather take a risk giving term with a much lower AAV. Love to see it start with a 5

With the AHL team in Calgary this season, would the Flames consider having a 22 man roster instead of 23 to save some money on the cap?

You're not getting Kadri for $7M even if you gave him 6 years, is my guess.
