That’s what I’m talking about. Music to my ears!

my truck is lifted 7.5" and sits on 35" tires. the tailgate is only 39" off the ground! (yes... i went and measured it!) it's a great height - no need to bend down when getting things out of the box!
as for stuff sliding to the front of the box - yea... that is annoying, but that's why i made a divider for my truck....
there's lots of stuff that is too big to use the divider with and that's fine - i keep a hockey stick in the back of my truck to help pull things from the front of the bed to the back of the bed. it's also great to have with you if you happen to come across a game of road hockey and they are short a guy!

I keep skates in the toolbox too. Never know when you're gonna drive by a rink and the mood just grabs ya

Needing to use Ricky's cleaning stick to retrieve errant items still isn't better than a trunk.
Also, having a tonneau cover(you need something to keep thieves and weather out) just makes your truck a less useful SUV. I'm not sold.

I've found hockey sticks with broken blades are often really useful tools, especially if you saw the broken blade down so that it looks a little bit like a flattened ice hook.
Blade isn't too long that it occasionally flips over things, the hook makes it easier to grab things and the flat edge is actually useful for scraping weird things off surfaces.
Carbon fibre sticks are already light and you'll likely have your perfect grip taped to the end for comfortable usage.

I will occasionally fire off a condescending 'Son' every now and again if someone is annoying me, its particularly effective if they're older than me.

If anyone calls me son, I start calling them dad. next thing you know I am begging them to play catch with me, and questioning why I am not in their will.

The easiest comeback to that would be to ask you who’s your daddy

Exactly. Kiddo is much friendlier, nicer and politically correct-er.

No... those suck. They're pricey and basically useful for grabbing garbage at best. They're like $15-20 each and their usage is limited.
Hockey sticks is retrofitted junk. New purpose rather than it being garbage or collecting dust. You can use it to slide and pull things heavier than 5 pounds and probably 20-30 pounds easily without concern. It is more useful than the garbage claw. If it snaps, you likely have reserve sticks you can use.

I respect a re-purposed hickey stick, I do. But can you pick up a phone from an eavestrough with it?

Assuming you can walk on the roof safely, the hockey stick is the best eavestrough cleaning tool I've ever used.
