Having a few before is basically par for the course. The Cavs game day experience is always so good!

I took my 4 year old daughter to her first game today. We got some seats over in 107 because I thought the supporters section might be too much, but we went over to our usual spots in 200 for part of the game and she liked it better then the other seats!

It was a fun time even though we missed both goals due to potty and snack breaks…

I opted to go to McMahon today, which was the wrong choice. But I hope you’ll be back! It is so fun seeing the reaction of first time visitors to the Cavalry experience

What a game to cure what ails you. Even with the 1 hour delay.

Bringing my 2 year old daughter to the game on Aug 27. Don't mean to put to much on the line but it would be crushing if the thing Daddy built was rejected...

Oh man, it far exceeded all expectations and I'll be making as many games as I can now. Just so much fun. The atmosphere and the sight lines were perfect. The beer prices were ridiculous but right in line with buying beer at any concert/sports event, so no reason to be surprised there.

Just an excellent stadium, excellent staff and excellent fan base. It's a really special part of Calgary as far as I'm concerned and everyone from our work loved it and wanted to come back regularly.

Highlight of the night - My boss texted and said to phone an Indian coworker that hadn't met up for tickets. He's the sweetest guy in the world and just loves getting out with people in Canada after immigrating here.

Me and my friend talked with him on the phone with a language barrier, trying to figure out where he was after parking as my boss had now transferred me his ticket. He kept mentioning a black car and I was trying to explain that a black car doesn't help much.

Eventually he talked about watching the match from the black car, I was like "Umm are you in the stadium?!!". He was like "yeah, I'm on the field near the black car at the corner of the pitch". He told security his friends had his ticket after they found him and they came on the phone with me and said "your friend walked through a staff gate and ended up down on the field, I'll bring him to to you". So this lovely security lady came up to us at the ticket entrance with my coworker, just laughing her head off. "Okay, here's your friend, you can scan his ticket in now".

So awesome, he was over the moon at the whole experience.

That is a great story! The next game I'm going to is August 12 (I'm out of town right now) so let me know if you will be there. I'd love to connect again!

The best part of yesterday's game was singing while we were all hiding under the stands during the rain delay. Just being under the stands amplified the noise that much more.

And here's video of Cavalry lifting Wild Rose Cup at the end of the game.

Only complaint from yesterday was the announcements couldn't be heard at all in the stand. Granted the rain was hitting the roof and there was a lot of chatter in the stand. I just about made out 4:20 and then 4:45 and put two and two together, but if there was some kind of serious announcement that needed to be made (missing kid, emergency, etc), it wouldn't have been heard.

Great day out otherwise, though felt the game kinda petered out towards the end.

Another awesome thing about this game is that the players and staff will actually mingle with supporters after games and at away watch parties too. Don't think you get that in any other sport in this city....

And it's official. Pepple transferred to Luton Town for an undisclosed fee.

Can't imagine he'll get too many first team minutes this season (if any) but I think he's got the potential to play at that level. It's going to be fun watching Bim and Victor over the next few years!

Nice in-depth article on how the Pepple transfer went down.

Quote:
When things didn’t work out for Pepple in Spain after one season, he evaluated his options heading into 2022. Forest Green Rovers, at the time in England’s fourth-tier League Two, had interest, but weren’t ready to sign him during the winter window.

That’s where Cavalry re-entered the picture. Wheeldon offered to sign Pepple to play in his hometown this year, making a gentlemen’s agreement with Forest Green that Pepple would be free to trial with the club in the summer should it so desire. Wheeldon gave Pepple the opportunity he needed to shine at a pro level in 2022, fully aware that he might lose the youngster in July.

No one could have predicted quite how much Pepple would shine this year. After easing his way into the squad, he went on a record-breaking run in June, scoring six goals in five games — the first six goals of his professional career.

After that, it wasn’t just Forest Green paying attention.

“As soon as he suddenly started scoring goals, I was getting WhatsApp messages, phone calls, texts from several League One and Championship clubs. Even one English Premier League club showed an interest,” Wheeldon recalled.

That has to be as exciting for Tommy as it is for Pepple.

Sometimes you need to be the bigger fish in a smaller pond to showcase how good you are, and the right bait will come. I think Pepple and Wheeldon both knew that was the case and it worked out for both sides.

Wow! I wonder what Premier League team called.

So, so happy for Pepple. I hope he develops into the elite levels of football; he has the skill and he has time on his side. His career will be fun to watch.

Poor showing. Cavs obviously have a few things they need to figure out.
