We could never fit him in but Huberdeau-Lindholm-Kane would be absolutely insane.

I think Kane is going to NYR or NJD.
But Hurricanes may wants to trade for Kane if Chicago retain max salary.

If Kane goes somewhere with max salary retained, that should be a pretty good guess as to what we’ll get for Huberdeau if we trade him.

Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast says that if he were to guess (and he stresses this is a guess) on Kadri, Avs and Isles are probably favourites. Some interest from Calgary but hard to quantify. Wouldn't be surprised if Marek is right about Detroit sniffing around.
Could be other than those 4 but that is where he thinks things are right now.
Very hard to gauge Calgary's interest. Some people tell him it is serious. Others have told him that Calgary needs to sign Huberdeau and Weegar first before they can get serious.
He speculates that Calgary is considering it might be easier to Sell Huberdeau and Weegar on signing long term if Kadri is in the fold
On the rumors that the Isles already have a deal in place with Kadri but not announcing he says he doesn't believe this is the case.
He doesn't think the Avs will move Girard to fit Kadri. Avs have told Kadri what thay can do and can't do.

Both Huberdeau and Weegar have said they are coming to Calgary in August to check it out and find a place to stay. I don't think they are going to rush into a contract before even coming to the city.

If I'm Huberdeau I'd want to cash in on a 115-point season before the season starts.
Hopefully he likes Calgary enough after he checks it out in August and gets a big money offer from the Flames that he can't turn down and a deal gets done before training camp.

I think Kadri is a great player. But I don't get why we should go after that guy. Did we not learn anything from Brouwer/James Neal?

Blake Coleman was pretty great for us last year. I choose to view Kadri more similarly to Coleman than to Brouwer/Neal.

Troy Brouwer and James Neal were bad hockey players before they got here. Their underlying numbers were bad.
Nazem Kadri is nothing like Troy Brouwer or James Neal.
There is certainly an argument to be made about paying free agency prices on a contract that will take a player (likely) until they’re 38, but that’s a difference conversation.

lol those guys were support wingers
Kadri is a play driving center
Yes it's a risk, and at some point you will probably hate the contract. But for the next 2-3 seasons he will most likely help the current core contend for a Cup

Would be great. I'm also a fan of making sure he can have the option to close out his career in Montreal if he wants.
I think we have to sign by around Christmas once we know the trajectory of the team. One thing I won't miss is Tcachuk's no look passes to NO ONE.
