Seems a little strange considering how uncompetitive they've been over the last few years. I guess this signals that they think they're ready to compete again?

Too much term. The Ducks will soon regret this.

Or they flip a free asset at the trade deadline for a great return.

Didn't work out great for Hall. Not sure it's going to work out well for Klingberg but the market clearly wasn't there for a long term deal.

Why in the world would the Ducks do that unless they plan to flip him at the deadline for assets? They should be tanking for Bedard.

We certainly don’t need another Dman.
1x$7m would be cool for Kadri

Yep, it's a great rebuilding strategy.
If Anaheim flops out, they can probably at least get a good prospect and draft pick for him.

Klingberg just sounds like a name that should be a Duck. Not sure why...it just fits.

They're well-below the salary floor, so this will help them get there.
Also, they can flip him at the deadline to the highest bidder, retain 50% and get a couple of good future assets.

I believe in the Jays.

Yeah... they're acquiring future trade capital here. Smart move I think.

That's all I can think of. Why does he want to be part of that is also a question. A split season on a one year contract is no guarantee of a payday next year.
