Did you get pipolina for your micro clover? I just seeded some in my front yard and it started to sprout after 4 days and minimal watering. So far, I'm super impressed with it. I may get my lawn aerated next spring and fill each hole with more pipolina.

Try the "professional yet snarky" reply that you are not interested in being recruited by his/her agency regardless of role, as previous experience with other such queries from him/her is that follow-up communications go unanswered and are never resolved. Cite a couple examples to illustrate your point.
Likely it will have no effect on future behaviour, as most people prefer remaining clueless even when furnished with clues, but stranger things have happened - so much so that they made a show on Netflix about it.

I read an article (for all I know it was probably linked on this site somewhere so this may be a repeat) that in the '50's clover was an important part of lawns. Then, the developers of broad leaf herbicides could not figure out a formula that would kill the undesirable lawn weeds, but leave the clover alone. So, they campaigned against clover and convinced the public it was a weed.
No idea if that's true so it could just be a conspiracy theory. Seemed plausible though.

I never water, mow 2-3 times a year, and never fertilize. Good mix of landscaping, clover, and native wildflowers looks better than any boring lawn.

Curious if you'd be up to posting a picture of what your lawn looks like? I'm trying to cut down on the maintenance and looking for options. Even with zero watering I seem to be needing to cut my lawn at least once a week.

Prairie comeback: Manitobans turn to native plants to stem climate change, erosion
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manit...mate-1.6528109
Quote:
The trend toward replacing traditional lawns with native plants has been growing in recent years and more Manitobans are embracing the idea.
Tallgrass prairie, an ecosystem made up of a variety of tall grasses, is making a comeback, as people everywhere from Winnipeg to Selkirk, about 40 km northeast of the capital, shift from turf grass to native plants.
The City of Winnipeg, meanwhile, mows the equivalent of 3,000 CFL football fields of sod. The Public Works Department is considering low cost alternatives to turf grass for boulevards, parks and other areas without much foot traffic.

"Everywhere from Winnipeg to Selkirk" you say? Well that is almost...nothing?

Having a nice lawn is a vanity project?
Out of interest, where do you draw the line between what is vane and what is simply taking care of something you're invested in and you value?
Not showering saves water - such a waste of water and energy over a dumb little vanity project.
As someone mentioned, I water very little but I do it at the correct times and the amount is controlled (underground sprinklers). Further I use a mix of natural and regular fertilizer twice a year. I mow with a rechargeable mower. I think I'm doing my part while still being able to enjoy my property.
Stop being so lazy and put some effort in. It's not difficult. As others have mentioned, there are alternatives.

We have an infill sized backyard and we put a patch of fake grass in a few years ago. Perfect, no maintenance, always looks great. The new stuff has some brown and different green colours so it doesn’t scream astroturf.
Regarding the recruiter, I have some which basically just spam out to everyone they can about every role regardless if you’re qualified or not. They basically have just done a keyword search and somewhere you have “SharePoint” so they spam you about a SharePoint Developer role. If they haven’t bothered responding to you in the past, they aren’t good recruiters. If you want to remain on the recruiters list then maybe contact them directly, especially if they are a local firm, and get hooked up with a better recruiter from the company. I have worked with some who I think are pretty good.

Yep. Pipolina. Bought a large bag of pelleted micro clover seeds from West Coast Seeds. I see little buds coming up in three or four days.

I’m interested in this clover idea. Can it choke out dandelions? Or do I need to do something about them first?

I don’t know about choking out existing weeds, but it prevents them from establishing in the first place. Here’s some info:

You guys are weird.
Shovelling is done at the coldest time of the year. It’s hard on your back. Lot’s of foot traffic on our sidewalk, so unless you get to it immediately after a light snowfall, you have to scrape and chip at hardened snow and ice. The double-wide driveway on a slope is also a pain. And I live on a plowed street, which churns up furrows of extremely heavy hard-packed snow that I need to shift to clear my driveway.
I have a battery mower that’s light and quiet. The weather is always warm and sunny when I mow, the smell of cut crass is pleasant, and there’s no mowing equivalent of hard-packed snow. And the lawn looks nicer when I’m finished.
I do mow my elderly neighbour’s lawn while I’m at it. But he pays the kids to shovel his sidewalk, because it’s a worse job.

I have a friend who never waters and only mows 2-3 times a year. His property looks like #### and his neighbours hate him.

Having a nice monoculture high-need grass lawn is a vanity project. If we’re talking lazy, that’s one step above the laziness of doing nothing at all. Congrats on putting zero thought and effort in it, you push a mower around and turn on your sprinkler, hold the applause.
You could take care of it in a way that’s lower maintenance and resource intensive and friendlier to pollinators and other animals. Different grass species, clover, flowers, more interesting landscaping elements.
Comparing it to showering? That’s dumb and you should feel bad.

I'm Hank Hill when it comes to my lawn. It makes me happy when it looks good, and doesn't take much effort at all.
Not like we live in a place with water shortages. If we did, I'd be the first to kill the sprinklers.

So people that have grass lawns are losers? Surely you are better than this?
