I have a pretty nice lawn and I really don't spend a lot of water, energy, and time on it. Water once a week and cut the grass once a week. Fertilize in the spring and fall. Nothing dumb about maintaining your property as I'm not one of those people that likes to invest large sums of money into things and then run them into the ground and devalue them.
Once a week mowing and watering and twice a year fertilising is a lot of water and energy considering the requirements of almost every alternative.
Again, letting it go to crap obviously doesn’t look good and is probably laziness, but it’s better for the environment and wastes nothing, so there’s credit due there at least. “Devaluing” your property really only matters if you’re selling. As long as you’re taking care of your house, maintaining a manicured lawn is just stupid excess.
I never water, mow 2-3 times a year, and never fertilize. Good mix of landscaping, clover, and native wildflowers looks better than any boring lawn.

I'm a sensible person. Bought an electric car, don't over heat/cool my house, recycle/compost everything I can, rarely fly anywhere, etc. I'm still going to keep my boring lawn because it looks good to me and I enjoy sitting in my boring back yard in the summer. I'm simply not going to give up everything just so celebrities, politicians, and rich folk can continue to live the good life with their massive carbon footprints.
We've been slowly transforming our back yard over to micro clover. When it's cut it's barely distinguishable from grass, is drought resistant, and our main reason - it doesn't turn brown and die from the dog. We used to diligently re-seed all of our brown dog spots, but the clover has made it unnecessary, and it's great.

How's the durability when walking?

Buy a drought resistant grass seed blend for your local climate, and mix it 50/50 with white clover, and never water it again.
My lawn looks the best on our street, likely because people don’t water their lawns on my street. But mine doesn’t need it to stay green. We’re in a heavy water restriction from drought and my clover and most of my grass is still green.
Speaking for myself, I'd rather shovel snow than cut grass 100% of the time.
I'm the same...there are days where I downright enjoy doing it. In contrast, I have never thought to myself "damn, that went by too quickly, I think I'll just mow the neighbors lawn too while I'm at it".

Watched a cyclist get hit by a car after running a red light today. Didn’t appear to be hurt bad but I didn’t have time to stop and see (about 12 other people were there). Not sure how she could have thought she could go considering about 5 people crossed in front of her right before she got hit. People not paying attention rgmg.
you didn't get the memo??? red lights and stop signs to not apply to cyclists - at least that's what i've always assumed since they never stop for them!

have you had someone stop in a circle to let another vehicle enter the traffic circle? i almost creamed a lady who did that. thankfully i wasn't going fast - but she did get a solid 4-5 second horn blast from me (and i almost never honk my horn).

Recruiter contacts me directly asking if I’m interested and/or know someone for a specific role. Same one that has ghosted me several times before. I’m inclined to ignore them or is that being juvenile?

I don’t think being rude to people benefits you in any manner. Simply relying back sorry, I’m not interested and don’t really know any good fits Keeps future opportunities coming.
