I'm not a farmer, I assume you are not a farmer. They are consulting with farmers on what to do. I don't know what's right or wrong and I doubt you do either.

Honestly the best thing you can do in regards to your lawn is buy an electric mower.
Quote:
Another estimate is that every gallon of gasoline burned by lawnmowers emits 20 pounds of CO2. According to the EPA, one gas lawn mower emits 89 pounds of CO2 and 34 pounds of other pollutants per year. According to a Swedish study, using a mower for one hour has the same carbon footprint as a 100-mile car trip. The EPA found that gasoline-powered lawn mowers emit eight times more nitrogen oxides, 3,300 times more hydrocarbons, 5,000 times more carbon monoxide and more than twice the CO2 per hour of operation than electric lawn mowers.

They are not consulting with farmers, Or Canadian agriculture, Or ministers speaking out against it. The only consultation is how quickly and how hard they can hit. This is not a partisan issue, If you eat, its going to have a impact on your daily life.

If Mr Trudeau thinks the truckers were bad, He better buckle up. Farmers have no problem making their voices heard and suffering a bit if it comes to it.

You can literally go on that website and give all the input you want:

Or you can get riled up over something you think will happen.

In other words, NOW is the time to get riled up about it, because the next step is its too late.

…or just give your input to ensure there’s nothing to get riled up about?

Hopefully your feedback is thoughtful and not one of being riled up, otherwise probably just be thrown out. Don't see why you'd stress yourself out over a worst case scenario that hasn't begun yet.
Just give your feedback, see what happens, then get mad if it's not the outcome you wanted. But you've got yourself believing it's already the outcome.

The truth is that many crop farmers have not focused on building soil quality. Rather they disc until the soil is totally exposed and rely on fertilizer.
That said, everyone is an expert on farming until it is your debt and equipment. Farming needs to be profitable, unless you want to live in a future where Monsanto, Walmart and Amazon own the farms.
Yes, there is room for improvement, yes there are big consequences to pricing out smaller farmers. Yes farmers should modify their practices. Yes consumers should take accountability for their product choises.

That's not very accurate. Zero-till or as close to it as possible is pretty much the norm these days (especially in the moisture challenged southern areas). Fertilizer is still needed regardless.

Did you see my link?
The consultation phase itself and what you presented is not new, what has changed and is new is current agreements / deal being set with the target already entrenched within it, without consultation.

A person can have a thoughtful opinion while being riled up and passionate about the topic at hand. A person can be concise and articulate in forming feedback without being offensive.

And the pointing to a consultation phase is a copout, when the goal is simply to use the phase selectively to fuel the narrative as needed, and the current government is pushing agreements with these targets already in place.
Did you know there was a consultation phase for the online harms bill?

"I was surprised when I first submitted the consultation and it wasn't publicly posted," said Jenna Scholz, co-ordinator of government advocacy with Defend Dignity, a national organization that works to end sexual exploitation in Canada.
"It took me by surprise in a really negative way when the government took the position that it was not going to disclose the submissions," said Geist.
|
It's all a charade, only to show that the government 'listens' to the people, but a year ago they rammed this toxic bill and only got beaten to become legislation by their own election call. And for that bill, they didn't even bother to consult the privacy commissioner.

We do minimal till, but we are far from normal in Mountain View County. Lots and lots of very black dirt here.
But you do raise a good point. Every micro climate will have different practices and ecology, which is part of what makes a Country wide policy dangerous.

I know very few that are not minimal till. The fact is, it costs fuel, wind erosion, moisture loss. 100% agree with above statement.
