If the Islanders snap up Kadri could the Flames be a player with them to solve their defense issue? Hanifin to the Islanders for Beauviller and Raty? RW in the mold of Duclair and then a really nice center ice prospect?

I would be surprised if Toffoli did not get 25 goals next year (assuming he is healthy and plays over 90% of the games). He has scored more than 20 goals in the last 3 seasons and has only had one truly bad season in the NHL (18/19). If he gets to 25, I am fine with that in terms of production from a 2nd line RW.

I suspect Mangiapane is a 30 goal guy next year again and so is Lindholm. Hubredeau if he signs should be good for around 30. They need one more scoring top six forward who can pot 20+ and they have pretty good balance from a production standpoint.

Backlund, Dube, Coleman and hopefully Monahan should be good for an average of 15 goals each.

3 guys who average 30 goals
1 guy who is around 25
4 guys who average 15 goals

If they get one more guy who can get 20+ they are fine. That would be a top 9 that gets 195 goals as a floor. If the 4th line and the press box can get a combined 20 goals (last year forwards 10 and below got a combined 24 goals) they would be at 215 from the forwards as a minimum.

The defence had 41 goals last year. The defence that are currently on this roster had 41 goals last year. Seems like 35 is a decent floor for the current backend.

250 goals as a floor is not the juggernaut that last years team was but it is only 43 goals less than last years team.

He's lead the Islanders in scoring every year since his rookie season. Give him some better linemates than Bailey or Parise.

The problem with staying loaded on D is that we end up with too much talent on the bench instead of the ice. It's fun to say we can just play 3 pairs evenly...but why?

I'm on board with trading Hanifin as he'll get us the best return and it still leaves us with 3 - top 2 defenseman. Hopefully Kylington takes another step, but him and Tanev were a good enough pair last year and at least Kylington is dynamic.

Hanifin just always leaves me wanting more and doesn't seem to have that extra gear to take over a game with a big play. Fast but not great on the rush, big but not physical, smooth but loses gaps, good wrist shot, doesn't get it off enough. I think he's a decent #2 dman but that's his ceiling.

Remains to be seen. I think it is far from an optimal take to say they laugh at an offer that includes a 35 goal scorer who plays on a shutdown line and a top pairing Dman coming off a 48pt season. All these players are from the same draft and are around the same age.

Come on for #### sakes.

I mean I guess we don't know what the actual offers are but if they are comparable....he's picking the isles over us?? Gimme a break lol

How in the hell will the Flames ever build a cup winner when they can't get enough good players to come to Calgary and/or stay in Calgary??

Build a ####ing new arena at least Edward's you idiot. Or move the goddamn team.

Only potential reason I could see it is if he wants to go somewhere where he's got a shot at being the #1C.

He doesn't have that shot here unless Lindholm gets injured.

With the Isles, he has to out play Nelson & Barzal (and either could be traded away to make room for Kadri to begin with). Much simpler task.

But I agree if similar offers are on the table, you think he'd stomach being the #2C on a better team.

Apparently Drance always jokes that Lou has signed everyone and tries to hides it as long as possible. I think this might be more of the same, none of the big name insiders has information on this.

If he signs with the Isles I hope it's a massive overpay.

This tweet is from a credentialed reporter. Writer for London Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs.

But not sure what he means- Kadri is going to COL if he doesn’t go to CGY? OR Kadri is going to COL but if he doesn’t then CGY.
Still remember this tweet from the London Knights (Kadri's junior team) writer...

I assume it means Colorado is his first choice but if they can't get a deal done, Calgary would be his next choice.

Disagree, you have to pay to get a #1 center. would love to hear who you think Lou would take for Barzal.

Mangiapane is unsigned and got 35 playing second fiddle to the most dominant line in the league last year. I'm no fancy stat guy person but I'd assume you'd find that he had much weaker defensive opponents than the typical top liners get. If he's paid as a 35 goal scorer, he'll be the focus point of the opposing team's plan to shut him down instead of an afterthought to shutting down Gaudreau's line. I think most team's looking to acquire him would like to see if he can first replicate his production.

Barzal has played with players that would not be top 6 on most other teams. Bailey in particular has been fortunate due to the Islanders winger depth that he got to transition from playing with Tavares to Barzal but before that we saw what Bailey was when he was playing with Neilsen - a fringe top 6 player. And he's only got worse.

Unlike McDavid who can use his speed or even Iginla who could power through someone, Barzal's playmaking requires his linemates to not be trash. Because right now they might as well triple team Barzal cause they can get away with it.

If they were looking to acquire a winger like Mangiapane it would be to upgrade the ones Barzal plays with, not in a deal for him.

Also no one said they would laugh at the deal lol.

You'd have to do quite a bit of work I think to argue that he's better than Lindholm.

If you're paying for a #1 center, best not to acquire a guy who would be your #2.

I wonder if Kadri gave Colorado a date to open up cap by or else he signs somewhere else.

Could see it being like an Aug 1 deadline because at that point Kadri needs to start planning for his family and where he will be next year.
