There's a rumor from Thomas Drance of the Athletic that Kadri has a pending deal with the Isles. Probably just looking to clear cap to make it work.

I’d bet Toffoli is more likely to score 30 this year than Monahan

Monahan was a fan favorite and some people don't want to give up on him yet. Toffoli is still a relatively new addition and didn't dump buckets of pucks in the net during the playoffs so it's easier to give up on him.
We really don't know what we have with Monahan after this surgery. Can he rebound and net 15-22 goals? Hopefully. Should we count on that? No way.
It is best to assume Monahan is done and to not expect anything out of him. I think many people have taken this approach. It will be a great feel good story if he does rebound but he's been breaking down for a while now and it just doesn't look good for him.

I actually want Kadri on the Flames pretty bad now. I know the risks, but short term he is exactly what this team needs. I could see something like 3 years, $7.5 million AAV or 5 years $6 million AAV being a fair deal.
The guy just gives 100% all the time. I suspect his production regresses back to career norms, but I don’t expect him to drop right off unless he gets injured. The Avs considered him a heart and soul guy over the past few seasons and the Flames could use that type of character. I would also love to see his nastiness on the ice in the BoA.

Would be willing to trade Hanifin but giving up Mangiapane as well seems like a lot. It’s a tough trade to build a Barzal for Hanifin swap because both teams would probably feel they have the more valuable player that’s being traded.

At least for this season the Flames would be better with Klingberg over Kylington while saving cap-space.

That would be the 9th or 10th player on the team over 30. That team will be a mess in a couple years

We need help at forward the defense is solid. Need a 2nd line center and right shot right wing
I wonder if it's time to pull Coranato out of collage to play 2nd line...

Barzal sure has been living off that rookie year for a long time. Hasn’t scored 20 goals in a season since. Mangiapane scored 20 more goals than Barzal last year.

That's kind of up to Coronato, not the Flames though.
Also, if we're relying on a 19 year old with zero pro experience coming in to play on our second line, we're in trouble.

Post apex based on age and when most players expect a decline, but there is still quite a bit of variation in that rule. Will his production decline quickly like Lucic, or more slowly like a Stastny?
I would gamble on the second example, but no one knows.

I co-sign trying to get another top 6 center over a top 6 winger. Having great center depth is usually how cup winning teams are built

Agreed. But #2 C are much more costly to acquire than top 6 RW. If we want to bring in the former, the cost starts at Hanifin.

Well he put up 33 goals in 74 combined regular season and playoff games in 20/21.

He was fantastic for the islanders in their playoff runs in 2020 and 2021 I believe.

28 goals in a shorten season too
I never said Toffolli will I’m just saying he’s more likely than Monahan
I don’t see Monahan playing 82 games or games at a level close to what he used to.
Some people said Nichushkin had the same surgery and look at him now? I’m reading he had it when he was 19 in 2014? Ok he’s good to go 8 years later?
Monahan has had 5 other surgeries too. Time to move on

He doesn’t have that many suitors for the exact same reason Gaudreau didn’t. Cap space.
