I still think keeping Johnny and Chucky was the way to go. I would have liked to keep Chucky and name him captain but if he didn’t want to be here so be it. I am pleased with the return but not overjoyed. I think the Flames did better than I thought possible when Chucky requested out. I think I still would have preferred the futures heavy rumored deal the Devils offered at the draft but for win now this is better than I thought possible.
Losing both was not shocking it was what many suspected. I will be really pumped if the Flames can get extensions done for both. I am also not sure how good Weeger is. Like I know he is a top 4 guy but is he our number 1 D man? I really like the potential of the trade but still sad we lost my 2 favorite players on the team.
Treliving did a nice job restoring the faith that I was losing in him.
I don’t know how it’s all going to turn out for him here, like I said, I’ve got very tempered expectations. Darryl Sutter hadn’t coached a 100 point scorer since something like 1994. That’s like 28 years in between and it took a very special year from the top line doing very special things to achieve that.
Huberdeau has a lot of great attributes that makes him a productive player. But I think it comes down to the way he checks in Darryl’s that’ll make or break him. The Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk line may very well have been the greatest checking line and most connected line I may have ever witnessed.
It’s probably why they all ended up around +60 as well, they gave up nothing and took it to their opponents and a lot of that stemmed from how they checked in every zone. We’ll just have to see how Huberdeau does in that department.
In six of the years in your date range no player in the entire league scored 100 points. And in plenty of others only one or two did. So it's kind of disingenuous to use 100 point players as any sort of milestone for your argument.

Sutter also wasn't even coaching in like 10 of those 28 years.
Goodrow will. Tkachuk might not even get 75 points.
I'm assuming you're spelling his name phonetically on purpose but seeing how there is literally a Goodrow in the league it sort of takes away the slight.
We all know Barclay Goodrow is not scoring 100 points.
Johnny Gwhodreau might though.

If these two sign and I think there is a decent chance they will.
I think we are in really good shape, already better than last years team.
I see Huberdeau as a slight upgrade on Gaudreau (simply because of size).
Our defence has improved
Goaltending is steady
If, with the extra minutes, Mangiapane can replace a chunk of tkachuks production, we are in pretty fair shape.

Except for Iggy's when Flames could've sent him to Boston but let him choose Pittsburgh and the inferior return. Though looking at both of those in hindsight, neither were great..

Cobra, I read that over a few times and my head spins every time. What?

The number doesn’t have to be 100. My point is, there’s a lot that Huberdeau will be up against this coming season, so that’s why my expectations won’t be so lofty. The roster could change any minute though, so really, the final verdict still remains to be seen.
There is nothing wrong with correcting the spelling, he didn't say anything bad. May be people should relax on people correcting spelling.
And while we're on this topic, it's 'Zadorov'. It's not a difficult name to learn how to spell. How many times have you heard Ball pronounce it on a broadcast?

Keep moving the goalposts. Your point was that Sutter is inexperienced at coaching 100 pt players, and possibly even detrimental to it (I mean there's a reason he never has 100 pt players on his teams, right?).
This was shown to be not only inaccurate, but patently ridiculous. But instead of just letting it go, you have now slipped in behind vagaries such as "there's a lot Huberdeau will be up against". It's classic cognitive dissonance. You originally started with the (incorrect) premise that it is a bad trade because it doesn't fix the losses of both Tkachuk AND Gaudreau, and have been digging 'up' ever since.

I don't think it was on the table or was contingent on Tkachuk signing an extension and he refused. New Jersey wasn't on his list.
