“I came here to win hockey”.
Good luck with that. What a clueless man. It’s becoming so much more apparent with this.
Glad he’s gone. Don’t believe a word he ever said anymore.

He’s not clueless at all. He is looking for a place to work close to where he wants his family to settle down. That’s it, that’s the goal.

Whatever you say, probably in a similar relationship to him without a say in the game. He had every chance and more to do that here. Don’t give me that BS.

It's just hockey. If you're still upset with his decision it probably says more about you than him .

For me, I just wanted him to tell us instead of dragging it out to the 11th hour.
I don’t quite buy that the decision took to the last second for him and his wife to make.
You are free to leave but have some respect for the organization you are leaving behind and let them know your intentions.

Yes as someone who spends thousands of dollars into the organization every year like many here. When people lie to you, what do you expect. You must be used to getting bent over….or something?

"Dying to come to Columbus" = "This is going nowhere with New Jersey. Guddy just signed in Columbus and it's close enough. Let's go there. Whatever, I don't care anymore."

I'm not going to comment on Gaudreau because that ball is still up in the air, but holy hell...that is the smoothest, easiest signing of a star UFA ever. In a market where it should have been nearly impossible.
They should have been fighting tooth and nail over other bidders and going back and forth and dealing with the hard grind of signing a Prime UFA to an enormous contract.
Nope.
I genuinely wonder if Gaudreau literally had nowhere else to go. It really feels like he painted himself into a corner and took the offer from 'The Last Chance Saloon.'
Its still a lot of money, sure, but when a Star wants to hitch his wagon to a contender the Columbus Blue Jackets arent usually near the top of the list. They're usually not even on the list let alone the prime destination.
You're talking about a 7-year contract. I'd wager that Columbus probably doesnt even make the playoffs in at least 4 of them.
This is where I'm at: Gaudreau made his call for whatever reasons he had. I find them baffling and non-sensical which intrigues me and I'd like to unravel it. I'm not angry I'm flummoxed!
It just makes no sense. But alas, as goes real life. Sometimes life throws you curveballs.

It’s because he’s a liar and doesn’t know how to handle the pressure and never has. He probably expected everyone to understand his decision, yet he’s done such a horrible job at explaining at. But let’s give him all the sympathy.

And you’re probably unmarried without children. I imagine him and his wife came to this decision together… or should he have been a ‘real man’ and just laid down the law?

I spend a lot of money on the Flames every year as well. But its just hockey, not life and death. Obviously you have anger issues that you should attend to. Good luck with it.

He was going to sign a nearly $70MM deal and he had to ask his wife for permission to get on a plane and fly down. His wife made the decision, he's not a guy you hitch your team too if you want to win a 'ship aka he's not the man the Flames need.

That video is something...........as someone already pointed out, a free agent like JG should cause a big bidding war and tough to sign, but it looks like he just fell in their laps. At a discount. Just weird.
