What a weird thing to say, as if they don't have phones in Europe?

Tkachuk is a liar imo and left as soon as he could.

Not fair at all.

There was a major shift in the personalities of players. Players under 30 years old have a clearly different attitude towards the sport and the business of the game. Giordano never seemed to adapt to these players. He was also past his prime physically in the last 2 years he was in Calgary.

In his prime though Gio was definitely a player that inspired the team around him, with his play and his energy. I was never in the locker room so can't comment on his demeanor there.

Thought that was a very interesting response.
Were now getting a bit more smoke coming out about Gaudreau's attitude. It could have been as simple as him demanding all the good opportunities, at the cost of other players.

Based on those comments about his European teammates, he may not have been especially great at getting along with people from different cultures.

He's smart and well advised. One of the most PR savvy young players.

Every player has intentions that will make them a public enemy. Some are just better than others are shutting that down that the media and sticking to the script.

Disagree that he's well advised for PR. The statement that he left to win despite putting worse teams on his trade list. Then he claimed Gaudreau had nothing to do with leaving so he could win. Contradictory statements are not good PR.

And it would have been like 6 or 7 in the morning in Sweden. He was talking like he would have been waking them up at 3 in the morning. And many people have their phones set so that only their emergency/important contacts wake them up so they would have got the text when they did get up.

I don't think he's lying about Gaudreau having anything to do with him leaving. He was leaving regardless of what happened with Gaudreau.

I think I'd like it a lot more if I didn't hear another word from Tkachuk or Gaudreau about their decisions ever again. Just feels self serving and I catch little half truths & lies of omission.

All this post trade farewell tour stuff makes me appreciate the Irish Goodbye a lot more. I don't even recall so much as a thank you Calgary from TJ Brodie, he just dipped and nobody has a bitter thing to say about him.

Yeah but not to win. It was a lifestyle choice. Why couldn't he just admit it?

He's got his personal reasons just like we all when we leave one job for another. I'm sure a lot of people aren't straight up with employers when they notify they are leaving for a new job (you never know when you may need a reference after all) and it's just not played out in public for anonymous people to critique. We should respect their decisions even if we don't agree with them.

I’ve not seen many who don’t respect the decision, versus the way he went about it and his rather obviously misleading rationales.

Pretty hard to be mad at him because I would do the deal even if he wanted to stay

I hope we don't post about every point he ever scores though

That’s the impression I got. I think he figured Tkachuk was all talk and no action. All about him.

That’s a pretty big ask. Have you seen the Sam Bennett thread? Hahaha

I think we all know why he wanted to leave. As with Gaudreau, I'm sure he has some fond memories of his time here and enjoyed the fans. There's just no easy way for a player to leave like this without making fans unhappy. Regardless of what he says, the reality is that he's rejected the organization, city, and fan base and in his eyes is moving to greener pastures. I think honesty is the best policy but I've not been in his shoes and had twitter followers, fans wearing my name on the back of their jersey, etc.

How do you know, or even guess about this?

The subject was actually Gaudreau in this little side discussion. Tkachuk - nah I have no difficulty with how he went about it. His contract history made exit pretty apparent what his priority was.

Maybe not, but even you have to admit that the way he went about it was the one bound to leave fans the angriest.

Completely different. Bennett is a legend. Tkachuk is just another player.
