Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!

As per usual ...

1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to rookie camp range
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Link to previous years ... Link

Still going with Kuznetsov. Big stay at home defenseman a player we need more of and think he's not that far off.

Yeah, I thought the Flames didn't offer him a contract and he went back in the draft this year.

Nope, he signed his ELC.

Only played 4 games year before last with Stockton because the OHL shut down iirc.

Exploded last year as a 19 yo.

You’re thinking of Ryan Francis who was a 5th rounder in 2020

Went with Mackey who can definitely play in this league.

agreed...i think he is being overlooked a bit, likely because he was undrafted.

I think he is the top blueliner on the list....including Valimaki.

Ah man... tough choice... Either Kerins or Poirier. I'm gonna go with Poirier but it's really more of a coin flip.

I am surprised that Valimaki went ahead of Kerins. And Mackey.

Kerins for me here.

I'm voting Poirier for the upside but I like Kuznetzov, Mackey and Kerins as well.

Count me amongst those surprised with Valimaki being this high. While his story hasn't been written, he's trending in the direction of bust as Mackey has surpassed him in the organizational depth chart.

Kerins is good but has barely played any pro hockey and was a late pick. Hard to project a player like that. Went Mackey again.

Isn't it common for 19 year-old's to dominate in the CHL?

Mackey is down the list because he's 25 already and hasn't proven he can be regular NHLer yet. I do think he can be a bottom pairing defenseman, but I prefer to pick someone with more upside at this point.

I went Kerins with Mackey & Poirier close behind. Beck entering my radar as well in this range as is Philips.

Poirier for me. Curious to see where Schwindt is going to go off the board, feel he could justifiably go somewhere between 7 and 10 (but probably won't).
