Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2022 - Round 5

Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!

As per usual ...

1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to rookie camp range
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Link to previous years ... Link

Picked Ruzicka. He should be able to make the step to full time NHLer next season. Great size and decent hands. Upside for him is a being a very good 3rd liner.

I still think Valimaki will figure it out but probably on another team.

Ruzicka for me as well. Interested to see when Schwindt entered the conversation for the ranking on CP. I’d expect it to happen after the next few rounds.

I have Schwindt ninth on my personal list, directly between Phillips and Kuznetsov.

I think Schwindt will surprise us next year, only 1 of his 40 points were on the power play

Have to say that our top 4 prospects look damn good to me though obviously there is some fan bias in there. Voted Ruzicka to round out the top 5 and I think he has 3rd line centre potential and could pop if he’s given a solid look early on.

I want to vote Ruzicka, but he's getting a little long in the tooth for a prospect. So far, doesn't look terrible in the NHL, but he still has issues with pace of play. At this point in his development, that's not very encouraging.

However, I understand why people are picking him here.

Rory again for me. I really think he's going to impress.

He is developing in the wrong direction. He has looked worse in each of his NHL seasons and has been passed by Kylington and possibly Mackey on the depth chart. I didn't watch him in the AHL, but in paper he was worse this year then in year 1. Most prospects don't recover after a sustained slide.

Hopefully he comes into camp in great shape and exceeds expectations (like Kylington last season).

I went Ruzicka based on his progress and the fact he played solid NHL minutes last season. I didn't love his game though. It feels like he is missing something to make him an everyday middle six NHLer. Here is hoping he proves me wrong.

Juuso was on the third pairing in Stockton for much of last season. He was one of their least effective players in the playoffs.

His mobility is just not there. He's not in my top 10.

What is it like coming back from an ACL in hockey?
Can take up to 2 years in other sports. Has this hampered his movement and mobility?
