He should still be fired.
Or at least fill the top right wing spot with a goal scoring machine.

Brad turned an asset everyone knew was leaving into three more assets. Even if weegar and hubey say "Naw fam" you now have two additional pieces to flip at the deadline for even more assets. Is it ideal? Probably not. Is it a much better position than they were in a week ago? 100%. Not sure how anyone could want him fired now.

Because some people look at eight years of work as a whole instead of focusing on just today.
He's not terrible, he's just painfully mediocre, and you need to aim higher than mediocre to win.

Nothing has changed. Until the contract situation is resolved the situation remains the same, just with different players.

But we got futures and some elite players. If they don’t sign extensions, they too can be dealt at the deadline for even more assets. How is that not a win.

Because this is CP.
Tre should have traded Tkachuk for the Stanley Cup.

Nothings changed other than at minimum he bought another year of winning our division.
Tkachuk and Gaudreau would have cost $20 mil
Weegar and Huberdeau cost $9.1 mil
I bet he isn’t done. Asset management is very important but so is winning. Huberdeau is almost a ppg in the playoffs. Tkachuk and Gaudreau aren’t
Weegar is seriously getting over looked too. I bet he and Tanev end up together and are our best unit by a lot

Not the same - even if there is no contract signed by the 2 key pieces (and I doubt the trade would have happened without some indication that one or both of Huberdeau and Weegar were open to the possibility of an extension), Flames got an extra first round pick and a prospect who is (at worst) a decent forward for our AHL team.

Losing a top 2 scorer in the league for nothing is still a fire-able mistake despite the recent trade.

8 years as gm is long. We haven’t won anything worth hanging in the rafters. I wouldn’t even let him carry out this season. It’s time to move on.

Kadri would be such a horrific signing if we couldn’t keep Jonathan H long term.
Wrong thread.

How? We had a chance at the Cup. You wanted him gone at the deadline? Or did you went a 6th round pick for his neg rights…..

I’m guessing it’s a hope for some magical time where Gaudreau was going to admit last summer that he’s not going to get better, so he signs for a discount instead of betting on himself.

You should make the conference finals every 8 years on average.
