I mean difference between RFA minor leaguer and an UFA. Philp had a lot of teams interested in him by all reports.

$140k in USD but living and working in Canada... his hometown even. He could even live with his parents if he wanted.

At the very least, we'll get to see a lot of him at the Saddledome.

With the Heat playing in Calgary, I'm hoping the added exposure opens up more opportunities for some of these guys like Philp to better showcase their talents with coaches and management. That and Johnny being gone, should help his cause.

I don’t think he’s an NHL player to be honest but does he need to clear waivers next season?

He needs to clear to only be sent down once he comes up, correct? Or does he have to clear to even come up? Can't recall how it works.

In that case I’m guessing he will remain an AHL star next season.

Once he clears waivers he needs to clear waivers again if he is on the NHL roster for 30 days or plays 10 NHL games. Those numbers are cumulative over multiple call ups.

He can’t pass through waivers this year. I suspect if the Flames try, he will get picked up elsewhere. Here is hoping he gets a fair shot

He will need to clear at the end of training camp in order to be sent down initially.

He will not need to clear to be recalled (recall waivers were eliminated a long time ago).

If he is recalled, he can stay on the NHL roster for up to 30 days or 10 NHL games played before requiring waivers again (this number is cumulative across multiple call-ups).

Only need to clear to go down. No need to clear to come up anymore.

I really hope he gets a good look at some point here, I think he could prove the doubters wrong and would quickly become a fan fav.
