Maybe it's just being close to working out extension(s) and want to announce those at the presser? No sense in putting a deadline of whenever the presser is to get the deals done.

Same reason Matty wanted to sign long term now. Coming off a career year and now playing with players where you might never reach that high again. Cash in while you can.

Only Gaudreau in this entire earth is dumb enough to have a career year in his UFA year and not cash in.

Fan myth as usual...dome was top 5 in the players poll a few years back. Probably mid pack now but way better than Florida

I don’t think Huberdeau is getting flipped, he’s too good of a player unless the Flames have decided to go full on rebuild.
It’s better to retool than rebuild anyway because you can’t end up with just picks when trading a player of Tkachuk’s calibre, those picks may not be good players and you could end up in rebuild mode for a lot of years, that’s not what fans want.

Yes but i think he meant for 2025.
and then you have the Flyer's protected pick for 2024 that might come into play if Tkachuk and Bennett revert to 2017-2018 Flames.
