I don’t think it’s because he’s American I just think he is a little overvalued by people and he is a on a sweetheart contract which allows the Flames to get a lot of value back in trade. Hanifin got absolutely owned by Mavi and Raisatl and is a pillow soft player.

Well, because the team need another GOOD top 6 forward and Hanifin brings the most value

Besides I am tired of McDavid toying with him

I think people are on the sign Kadri wagon is because it doesn't appear he is going to get a nut bar contract because GMs also see his age and the outlier offensive season he just had.
He's still a very good center though and also brings an edge as well as cup pedigree. I'd love to see him on the Flames on a 4 or 5 year deal.

I think so to. It must suck for him to not have had this level of success two or 3 years ago but it is what it is. I think he may be looking at a 5x7.5 deal at this point. Still makes the last year expensive but not completely unbearable.

Fair enough but we also saw what happened when we did lose a top 4 Dman to injury. I like having the upgrade in depth myself.

Tanev is probably going to be out for a large chunk of the next season, if they don't rush him back. Assuming we don't see Tanev until December or so, there was certainly a gaping hole that has been patched up. Once Tanev comes back you can drop one of Andersson or Hanifin to be Zadorov's partner, allowing everyone to slot better than they dod in last year's playoffs where that Hanifin - Andersson pair got destroyed

It was reported a few weeks back that tanev is looking good for the start of the season. He won't be out until November let alone December.

Didn’t they say he may be ready to start the season?

I hope Huberdeau signs longterm with Calgary this summer. But if he is resistant to signing and Treliving wisely shops him now (not at deadline) what do folks thing might be available? What teams might be interested in dealing for Huberdeau now and what might be the return?

Let's cross that bridge when we get there.

I hope the addition of Weegar puts Hanifin on the block. I think we need to get another top 6 RW and looks like our defense is overloaded.
 Huberdeau - Lindholm - X
 Mangiapane - Backlund - Toffoli
 Dube - Monahan - Coleman
 Lucic - Ruzicka - Lewis
 Phillips

 Weegar - Andersson
 Kylington - Tanev
 Zadorov - Mackey
 Valimaki

We might have to clear out another spot or two if Pelletier is ready to make the jump.

If Monahan starts coming back into form we would be looking really good for a scoring 2nd line and dominant 3rd line.

I think Pelletier will be on the 3rd line. I think Dube will shift to center. I don’t think Monahan ever recovers and they’ll try and bury him somewhere.

We need one more top 6 forward somehow.

I don't know why Barzal would be available, do the NYI have another 1C in the wings? They'd be gutted without him imo

Wondering about Taylor Hall, Patrick Kane or JT Miller.

Bergeron in Boston is 36 and a free agent. Still an elite player. Flames should throw $8M at him for a 1 year deal. Like Vancouver did with Messier.
