Imagine if Chucky signed in Florida thinking he would play with Huberdeau before they announced the trade??? lol

Or thanks for being mature enough to not string us along until midnight.
I can't blame Tkachuk for wanting to spend the next eight years in Florida and at least he was upfront about leaving. I'm always going to cheer for him because I loved the player and the way he handled his exit.
As Infinit47 said in the other thread this is why Tkachuk does not deserve to be boo'd and Gaudreau does.

You can thank him for whatever made up thing you want, I already did mine.
The way he handled his exit? He’s an RFA who refused to negotiate any deal that did not walk him directly to UFA as soon as another player left. At the aexact moment the team could have been his, he said “nah, my friend isn’t here anymore, I’m leaving ASAP.”
His reasons are weaker than Gaudreau’s. But you don’t really have to boo either of them. Or you can boo both. Who cares?

The team was his already. Too bad the rest of the team and staff took too long to see it

He's a really good player but I was never a fan. I just find he's got a lot of that Dion Phaneuf in him where he badly wants to be a leader but it's just not natural for him and I don't see him ever being a great captain. Also his skating rendered him as a non-factor in the playoffs for the most part. Glad he got his money and home in the USA as he always wanted. He won't be missed as much as Gaudreau.

Gaudreau actually wanted to be a career Flame which is something Matthew Tkachuk never wanted or cared about. I'm kind of shocked Jiri would create this thread as I never thought he had the pettiness in him. I knew he was never a Gaudreau fan but it's pretty evident he's taking a clear shot at Gaudreau however misguided it is as Johnny was twice the Flame Tkachuk ever was.

I don’t know anything about whether certain posters had grudges or not, but I do find the difference in reactions funny.
Player A is a high first rounder who plays 6 seasons on the Flames, says he loves it here and wants to stay, and then as an RFA refuses to sign anything that doesn’t take him to UFA the fastest forcing the Flames to trade him because he wants to leave regardless. Is viewed a hero because the GM got a good return for him and “mature” because he turned his back on the team.
Player B is a late rounder who plays 8 seasons, becoming one of the best offensive players the Flames have had in that time, plays into his UFA years and says he wants to stay, but when he hits UFA he leaves after a month of debate where pretty much all parties and insiders point to him wanting to and nearly staying a Flame. Is viewed as a coward and a traitor because the GM couldn’t get a return for him.
Again, I don’t think either guy is worth getting upset over, they’re gone and we’re moving on. It’s just weird watching the fan base get disrespected even harder by Tkachuk, but because he gave a heads up it’s cool.

I agree with PF here. Not going to serenade the guy for wanting out or pretend as if he was acting in the best interests of the Flames.
I obviously wish Gaudreau had been more decisive but I highly doubt if he had requested a trade last summer you’d see the same posters waxing poetic about his generosity.

It's strange. Matthew loved Calgary less, but was more professional and mature through the dealings.
Johnny did love the Flaming C but took the more harmful actions to the club when all was said and done.
Depends on whether you value action more or sentiment and good intention.
I've been in the place of Johnny where I meant well but screwed up and burnt bridges because of the action, or lack thereof. It really would've helped if his statement was not polished but came straight from his mouth. His intention was probably sincere, but the result came across as insincere.
Tough series of decisions to see from Gaudreau. I think he screwed himself more than than any one.

Gotta admit, he was my favorite player, but I have no sadness about him leaving after seeing the return we got for him. I hope he doesn't get booed when he comes back to the 'Dome, as I respect how he handled this situation-he let management know his position, so they could get something for him.
As for the little puke, I hope he gets booed mercilessly every time he touches the puck.

Thank you for what?
He and/or his agent did a very calculated move in order to force his way out as quickly as possible.
This is as business as it can get, albeit way more professionally in light of recent event.
Let's not pretend teams hadn't buried players for various reasons, if he decided to be a prick instead.
So in the end, both sides decided to be professional about this, and both sides got what they wanted, no "appreciation" or "thanks" involved.
Hard cold textbook business.

I trashed your skating but you are a true pro...and those hands
Canadian media trashing this guy was ridiculous, making him the villian for being attacked in a suspendeble act after laying some clean hits. Can't help but think that was part of him wanting to go down south.
