A question, how good is Weegar compare to Nurse? Asking for the Oilers fans.

At $9.5 million, Tkachuk's contract has the third-highest cap hit on the Panthers behind their starting goalie (who was signed as a UFA) and their 2013 first round pick.
At $5.9 million, Huberdeau's contract has the third-highest cap hit on the Flames behind their starting goalie (who was signed as a UFA) and their 2013 first round pick.

The only way it turns bad is if we don’t sign and keep them past deadline and loose them
JH at the deadline is worth a 1st, 2nd, and top prospect easily (look at Toffoli return) heck you may even get two 1sts
Unless Weegar falls off a cliff he’s a 1st, 3rd? And top prospect
So your looking at something around 3 1sts, 2nd , 3rd and three top prospects in value for MT
That is insane for a player saying they won’t sign

Trade Valamaki and Kylington. Promote Mackey. Sutter still has a vet Dman coming in too, which many eyes will roll at as they did with Gud and Z last year.

IF Huberdeau signs an extension, it becomes a close deal. But you also have to keep in mind that Huberdeau is 29 and statistically speaking has already peaked and can expect a decline in a couple of years.
IF the Flames flip them at the TDL, they can get some decent parts back. But you just know that if the Flames are anywhere near a playoff spot by that time, they will walk them to free agency. Recent history suggests that.
Also, I am not sold on Weegar. I think he is part of the list of players who overachieved in Florida (Duclair, Bennett, Marchment). I recall him being absolute dog #### in the playoffs and Florida fans wanted his head on a pike.
So yeah, a lot of this story still has to be determined, but it has the potential in 2 years to amount to just Shwindt and a lottery protected 2025 first rounder when all is said and done. Hard for me to get excited at this point.
|
Gaudreau is the same age, 50 pounds lighter and a foot shorter then Huberdeau and Sutter can only improve a defensman, especially one who’s come off a career year.

If you listen to some on here (many of them silent the last hour or so) Calgary is in the running with Winnipeg and Edmonton for every player's top 3 untradeable cities.

Looking forward to Jonathan, MacKenzie and Nazem signing contracts, kissing babies and throwing their heads back and laughing in the direction of Edmonton tomorrow.
