Huberdeau will be great opposite either Mangiapane or Toffoli.
Can anyone give me some more insight on Weegar?

They fell for all the BS in the media about Tkachuk

I mean Huberdeau is unsigned....but we can flip him.

They over paid for grit and youth. I bet there was a huge bidding war if Carolina was coming a close second. Just wow.

The 2025 1st is lottery protected.
No word on the Flames 2025 4th, but I assume it is tied to the lottery protection. e.g. if the 1st is delayed to 2026 Flames don't transfer the 4th or the 2025 4th becomes a 2026 4th, etc.

What this does it make this team mediocre for the next 3-4 year. Might make the playoffs a couple times, might miss, but never good enough to be a consistent Cup threat.
I'm trying not to be a Debbie Downer but this is the exact opposite of what I wanted to happen. I will say though, I expected worse if the Flames were going to go in this direction.

You might not be trying, but you’re sure doing a great job of it.

Not a fan.
If he manages to re-sign them, you're giving them massive deals and both deals will look ugly in few years.
If he can't re-sign them, he'll be trading them for late 1sts at the TDL.
The first is 3 years away and top 10 protected?
Again short-term outlook. This team just spins its tires.

John Gaudreau got 115 in 82 games. That’s great. Jonathan Huberdeau also got 155. In 80. Heh heh.

I'm not sure any of the CP proposals were this lopsided
star for star is a Flames win IMO
1st, top pairing D, prospect (It could be me for all I care at this point)
Cap space
"no leverage"

We acquired the best apple-getter in the league for Tkachuk.
And an elite 2-way d-man
And a B+ prospect
And a 1st.

Huberdeau is the same age as Gaudreau and has been consistently as, if not more, productive. Did you want to re-sign Johnny?
Also ... Huberdeau and Weegar are going for *way* more than late firsts if they flip them.

Wonder if huberdeau might be a good mentor for Pelletier. Same position, both from Quebec.
