Just not much to be excited here. We just pushed the window out a bit but the team will be much worse than last year, and all we get to show for it is a 1st round pick 3 years from now.

Just hate this trade.

How else would you recover? This to me is perfect - best players available and buy time. We won’t be under the gun to move them like tkachuk put us in - a bad negotiation position.

They go hard after Kadri tomorrow IMO

I think they try to get deals for Huberdeau and Weegar done this week too. They can offer Huberdeau the Gaudreau contact ($9.76 x 7)

Huberdeau and Weegar are still cheap for this year though, so you can get a Kadri and then have Monahan and Lucic money open up once it expires next year to cover the Weegar and Huberdeau raises.

This is an awesome return "IF" things can get worked out in the Flames' favor. They have to get Huberdeau extended. Weegar would be nice to get extended, but not a deal breaker. Huberdeau is the lynch pin. Extension has to happen for this to work out. The 1st is so far out it's almost useless at this point. Schwindt will be ineteresting to see how he develops. Flames need a good center prospect, so this meets the need. If he develops could be an important piece for the club.

Optimists: Huberdeau, Weeger, and a first? ####ing hook it to my veins.

Pessimists: Huberdeau and Weeger are UFAs in a year? Deadline hauls are gonna be killer.

I don't know how we're not all united after this deal, considering what parking lot Treliving is gonna hit when he heads to bat.

If they don't sign.. You can still trade them both. You aren't stuck with them.

I can’t see any scenario where Huberdeau at least isn’t extended very soon. It’s essential for this fan base lol.

I have to believe Tre has a very, very positive feeling about signing Huberdeau after going through the Tkachuk and Gaudreau debacles.

totally did not see this one coming.

Huberdeau is a great player and Weeger had quite a run last year.

The extension talk is fair, but you'd have to think there was some communication there before the trade was announced

Yeah, that gives us division champion repeat type center depth.

Lol the rebuild was a nice dream.

I don't mind this though. I don't mind it at all.
