Even if he doesn’t re-sign Huberdeau is worth at least 2 1sts at the deadline.
Weegar probably a 1st and second as well.
So it could turn into like 4 1sts plus potentially.
They won’t just let them walk or else they would have just given Tkachuk the 1 year deal and walked it back

Like Tkachuk, I imagine Huberdeau wants to cash in on last year by signing an extension before the start of this year. Is he willing to do that in Calgary? If not he can still can still net some solid assets at the deadline. Ditto for Weegar I guess.

Just not much to be excited here. We just pushed the window out a bit but the team will be much worse than last year, and all we get to show for it is a 1st round pick 3 years from now.

Crazy deal. Huberdeau is a better player than Tkachuk right now. Not coming away with any surefire futures in this trade has me a bit confused though. It’s an excellent win now move for the Flames, I just don’t think it’s the right time for it. With Johnny on the roster I’d be thrilled. Without him…not sure about this tbh.
