I doubt Arizona wants Tkachuk lol

He'll reduce their Bedard odds

I was just told by somebody very much in the know down in Arizona that there is "zero truth" in the idea that the Coyotes could trade for Tkachuk.

Bummer. Wouldn’t have minded a Hayton + Chychrun + something else substantial for Tkachuk.

Tkachuk is far too good of a hockey player for Arizona to be interested in. Better to trade for the Kassian’s, Ladd’s, Little’s of the world.

Even if we get Kyrou...its unfortunate to remember that we could have had both if not for the Elliott trade...

Can’t take themselves out of the Bedard sweepstakes

Maybe we can trade for Noah Dobson instead from the Islanders, he put up 51 points last year from the backend. He would have led Flames dmen in scoring with that number.

I actually think that the flames going defense heavy may be a good strategy given our coach.

Kyllington + Mangiapane for Chychurn or the trade basis you propose are both good options...

A Canadian and a Swede for an American? Probably a bad idea in light of recent events...

We traded Jordan Kyrou for Brian Elliot and Noah Dobson for Travis Hamonic. Ughhhhh.

You definitely shouldn't assume every American prospect will want to leave Calgary as soon as they're able, but American prospects should certainly be tagged with an asterisk by the organization now and managed a certain way. Hanifin says he loves it in Calgary and maybe when his contract is about to end, indicates he wants to extend? That's great, but set a hard organizational deadline for him that is reasonable, for when a new contract needs to be signed. No hard feelings, it's just business.

Not sure how much they could have played together at 5 years old and younger. They did play on the U.S. development team together and are good friends though.

Can't really play that game, who knows who the Flames would have picked in that situation and how the player would have developed

True, you can’t avoid them, but you have to be prepared for the flight risk and flip them when the warning signs appear. With Gaudreau and Tkachuk, there were a lot of red flags that were ignored.

Yes I would very much like that 2nd round for Smelliot back.

Even if it was, their 2024 first will probably be pretty good too.

I have a hard time believing Tkachuk would want to play the next 3 years minimum in that rink, but who knows? Maybe being able to golf in January and go to the store without anyone caring who you are would have enough appeal.

Which performance was worse?

Elliott vs Ducks 2017
Markstrom vs Oilers 2022
