A little unrelated but I'd like to see the Flames take a chance on Michael Dal Colle. Islanders didnt qualify him so he's a UFA. Worst case he ends up being a good veteran in the AHL, but could also be a guy who bounces back with a change of scenery. Former 5th overall pick

I'd rather take a chance on Milano or Steele

Milano for sure, I’m curious about how the Hockey Canada stuff plays out before I’d wanna sign Steel

I’m thinking a bunch of tweeners like these would give our drafted prospects some competition for spots on the Flames roster and bring out their best.
Lots of guys hungry to stick in the NHL, for a team that should have a few available slots for hard workers, that seems like a good risk to take.

Edmonton and Calgary were rumored to have both talked to Milano last week. Assuming nothing came out of it. Edmonton signed Janmark after that.

What productive players are considered bad contracts, to the degree that their team would want to dump them?
I’ve seen Tarasenko come up, but he seems to be a stud. I don’t think St Louis would have to sweeten at all to get rid of him.
So who else is out there that Flames could acquire along with high picks or prospects?

Lindholm and Hanifin for Hamilton and Ferland worked out well for us..he could pull off another rabbit out of the hat.

STL better be adding to that IMO.

Tarasenko has 1 yr left at $7.5 million and has asked to be traded and if Tkachuk goes there they have to move out some serious salary as they are up against it and still need to fill a roster spot. You may be better with Tarasenko but it could also only be for 1 year so STL is in a Vegas situation where they had to move Max to Carolina for a bag of beans.

Swap Valimaki for Hanifin and we're talking

Yeah that's probably about as much as we can realistically expect from a deal with the Blues.

That's not enough in return if Hanafin is included IMO. I would want the 2023 and 2024 1st as they are both going to be 20+ picks which don't hold great success rates. The team will need multiple 1st round picks IMO to be able to use in a package to move higher up in the 2023 1st round.

I don't think either side would be overly thrilled or satisfied. The hallmark of a good trade.

We’re getting a top pairing D signed for 8 years, a young RFA RW and a 1st, for a guy who wouldn’t sign here for all the money in the world, and you wouldn’t trade Hanifin to make that happen?
It would be shocking if Hanifin extended here.

So even to make the $ work for St Louis add Tarasenko but he essentially goes to the Islanders with 25% retained and get the NYI 2023 1st round pick.

Not keen on Parayko. He is 29, has had injuries in the past couple of years, and is singed for 7 more years at $6.5m per year

All of these reasons above is why I prefer a deal with NJD.
