New article in the Athletic has 5 potential trades between the Flames and Blues for Tkachuk and then they analyze them.
They are all pretty terrible. Praying we don’t get fleeced here.

Is what it is.

I guess but what players or prospect he chooses to take make a big difference. This to me maybe the make or break deal for his time in Calgary

I think it’s between New Jersey and St Louis . That’s it in my mind. Two teams with family connections. But money trumps all with this family lol. If St. Louis was the lone team they wouldn’t have to pay top dollar so throwing other teams into the mix brings the salary up to Tkachuk family standards. Chucky isn’t really doing the Flames any favours by releasing a so called list. He’s trying to drive up his salary first and foremost.

I think Tkachuk only ends up on the Blues if it was St Louis or bust. They don't really have the cap structure for it right now.
I'm dumb, open article. Flames get: Kyrou, Torey Krug, Zachary Bolduc or Kyrou, Jake Neighbours, Scandella, 2023 third-round pick
I'd take either of those

What were the trades out of interest?
|
These were the trades on the athletic.
1. Tkachuk for Kyrou, Krug and 1st in 2023
2. Tkachuk for Tarasenko, Barbashev and 1st in 2023
3. Tkachuk for Kyrou, Neighbours, Scandella and 3rd in 2023
4. 3 team trade Blues get Tkachuk, Beauvellier. Isles get Tarasenko. Flames get Kyrou, Perunovich, Isles 2023 1st round pick.
5. Tkachuk for Tarasenko, Bolduc, Klim Kostin

The ownership group are going to see all the options.
If he clearly gets a better offer and ignores it he's in big trouble for sure.
But yeah it's going to come down to picking the better futures, and with that it will take time to see if he did the right or wrong thing.
Or if he convinces the ownership group to get less for now and more for the future and the futures don't work out ... trouble. But that again will take time.
The ownership group isn't guying to fire a GM for not getting enough when the market didn't have more to give and they're privy to what's available.

1. is actually Kyrou, Krug and Bolduc
They seem to be the brainchild of Jeremy Rutherford. Dom Luszczyszyn mentions in the last proposal that he doesn't think any of these are enough value, he thinks 1 and 3 are close to ballpark if at least a 2023 1st rounder is added.

Taking a while to get to 5000

If the deal is with St. Louis, if they get Kyrou and a pick back then its a win all things considered. Get a prospect with it, even better.
Cap dump like Tarasenko? Fine.
I got a kick out of the Athletic's #4 proposal. Basically the Islanders spend a 1st and Beauvilier for Tarasenko. Oof.

Imagine if he’d traded Gaudreau in June 2021.

perhaps these proposals were a little bit underwhelming, huh Dom? He’s probably right — a couple of those deals may need a first-round pick added

So, he knows he's light on the STL side of the offers.

Wouldn't take those that seriously. Those are just fan proposals with some commentary, Dom L pretty much says none of them would be close in value to Tkachuk.

If you read the article the really gross ones are if Flames try and stay competitive but 1 and 3 are decent. Wouldn't be mad.

I want a trade with New Jersey, young attractive pieces and lottery first rounder.
Still can't see them knocking someone out of a playoff spot with that goaltending and defence.

People can certainly read with a filter.
I saw St. Louis writer making proposals and objective journalists knocking them down as too light and you're summary is we're screwed?

Specific to one of the proposal, but I liked this.
Quote:
No Kyrou and no first-round pick means a “no” from me. I don’t think Tarasenko and his current contract is a strong enough centerpiece, especially without a first-rounder going Calgary’s way. The rest of the package is just assets, but none seem very attractive relative to getting Tkachuk, a game-breaking superstar. I think adding at least a first-round pick to Proposal Nos. 1 or 3 is close to the ballpark of value for me. If this is what the Blues are offering, and the Flames are entertaining it, that is absolutely wild. Having leverage of where Tkachuk wants to play must be nice!

The 4th one would be a wild rip-off for the Islanders. They trade Beauvellier and a 1st and get Tarasenko?

I feel like a lot of people don’t realize that MT is in the driver seat here. The real value is only ever going to come if he agrees to sign. His agent has had an opportunity to talk with all of the teams that he has on his list. He knows what they are willing to offer and can essentially pick his spot by telling the flames he is willing to accept a trade to X team, knowing they are offering him max dollars.

Yup, it really comes to Tkachuk. If he is actually Blues or bust Kyrou, prospect, and cap dump is what I expect. I want a trade with the Devils though.
