I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where the best place to visit over New Year's Eve would be for a good family party and fireworks? I'm not interested in New York City or Vegas as those would be too crazy. I think that Miami or Nashville usually have a good public party for NYE.
We are looking to go somewhere after Christmas for 5 nights including NYE so something with decent options for kids such as waterparks or beaches would be ideal.
Launching fireworks on New Year’s Eve, or Sylvester as it is locally called in Germany, is a decades-old tradition. When the clock strikes midnight, Germans pour into the streets as private firework displays fill the skies until early the next morning. According to Germany’s environment agency, up to €200 million is spent on fireworks mainly for personal use, The Guardian reported.
But as a result of this tradition, every year, hospitals across Germany report countless firework-related injuries, including severe burns and lacerated limbs.

Chinese New Year in any of the dozen or so Chinese mega-cities... its street-to-street fireworks warfare. People armed with commercial-grade fireworks firing indiscriminately into the air. Its wonderful.

my neighbor across the street from me in new brighton usually sets off some fireworks. it is local and you don't have to worry about making airline connections, clearing customs using an app etc.
lots of free parking plus the added hilarity of seeing folks make posts on the local facebook page about hearing gun shots while other complain the loud noises stress their pets and people should be considerate of this

Dubai is pretty spectacular, but you have to be okay with being stuck in traffic or waiting for the metro until 6 am to get out of there. And paying over USD 1000 a night for a hotel during that week. Yup, better off with Lake Bonavista or New Brighton.
