A ton of time is going to be spent by the Flames talking to the players coming back to get assurances they'll remain in Calgary long term given what's happening. Glad it'll happen but the Flames will still be in a tough spot as player assurances don't mean much. Don't envy Flames leadership right now!

We'll find out soon enough but I think Tkachuk wants to get paid and will not put himself a disadvantage. If it continues to drag then it will leak that is St Louis or bust

It changes the dynamic a lot of Treliving works out a deal with NJ for example, and then gives permission to Tkachuk before finalizing the deal to talk to that one team, and only that team. If Tkachuk was given permission to talk to any team on his list, or if any team could approach him before a deal is worked out, that could kill a deal as Tkachuk could change his mind.
As soon as Flames elected for arbitration then Tkachuk could not openly talk to other teams but tampering probably happens anyway

I think that Tkachuk likes money too much to limit himself to one team.

Ya not sure why everyone thinks hes willing to take less money to sign with St Louis.

Like when has he even hinted at such a thing.

Flames would be stupid not to let Tkachuk talk to the teams in the mix to maximize the value. He will probably extend the second he gets traded

As I said, I assume Tkachuk made that condition of him providing a list.

So people were divided on Johnny

I assume it will be fine to boo Tkachuk when this is all done?

Well count me in the group that is looking forward to a fleecing by the Flames. Been a long time since we hands down won a trade.

In his own words when asked about an extension...

Absolutely.

He gave us at least a heads up well ahead of time. Instead of playing us that there was a chance he'd stay. What's to boo him for?

If I was in Calgary I would.

Sure, he let them know so they could make a trade and get something but instead of embracing the opportunity to be the new face of the franchise that could still compete after his buddy Johnny Walkie left he decided to bolt too.

I 100% agree. I don't think it is St Louis or bust at all. I think it would already be out there if it was.

For most people nothing.

But for you I would think it would be different.
Especially since he came out and said that he would not resign in Calgary all because of camm13.

It is a bit of a game from the Flames side though. Let's say the only two teams in the mix are St Louis and New Jersey. St Louis' max offer is 9x7 and New Jersey is offering 11x7. It quickly becomes New Jersey or bust. Figure out the trade and then Tkachuk can negotiate quickly.

Hopefully not all of them at once, and hopefully not until a trade deal is actually on the table.

If they let Tkachuk talk to all the teams on the list and one is offering $9 million AAV and the other is offering $10.5 AAV, Tkachuk could then just turn around and take one (or more) of those teams out of the mix and pull the plug on any deal Treliving was working on.

Treliving needs to wait until they are about to pull the trigger before letting him negotiate with another team. And hopefully other teams on his list don't start leaking that they are interested, because if Tkachuk preferred one over the other, he could shorten his list.
