Not really sure why Bratt is getting underestimated but Kyrou is getting the opposite
Kyrou was 4th on his team in scoring and his team was pretty good
Bratt led his team in scoring (hughes did get injured and would have) and his team wasn’t very good.
They also had pretty identical ppg in 20-21, and Bratt was putting up good seasons before kyrou was a full timer while they are from the same draft.
Not making an argument for one being better than the other but I don’t see how Bratt is more likely a bust than kyrou

Are we trying to improve the Flames or improve the Devils? If there is a pick involved I want the Devils' goaltending to remain a weakness so that pick still has potential to be a good one.

Any pick will be lottery protected in any event.
But a NJ pick is likely better.

Trying to maximize value for what is left of this rotting carcass of a roster.

Bratt's 5 on 5 points/60 over last 3 years: 2.44
Tkachuk's 5 on 5 points/60 over last 3 years: 2.49
Bratt's definitely not a bad player. He loves to carry the puck and drives play. He alone would be a better return than what the Flames got for Phaneuf. The tricky part is seeing where he fits into a rebuild

Wonder if it’s my Safeway, aka the Russian Safeway - empty shelves, long lines.

Kyrou was dominant in the playoffs
both are really good players though

I don't see anything with STL and Kyrou. He and Thomas have 1 last year of 2.8M (and ROR 1 yr to UFA) - I doubt they want to blow up their best remaining cap window.
Tarasenko still has a full NTC and I'd bet he's happy to stick around and hope for another PPG season...or accept a trade to somewhere that will extend him early. The rest of STL high AAVs have full NTC (except ROR and Buchnevich who has a 12 Team NTC...not what CGY needs anyways)
I think STL would have to be a complicated 3 team deal:

Many teams sit players and it is not out of spite. You sit him because injury could lower your return (or prevent a trade altogether), because of the negative locker room presence or influence in the lock room on other players, because his production could fall (especially without one of the best playmakers just signed elsewhere) thereby lowering your return. You can simply sit him to show that, as an organization that you are going to do what is best for the team and will play the players who want to play for the team. Trevor Linden said it best” my dream is to play in the NHL, not sign an NHL contract .” Pay and play those guys!

I get hating on Trudeau, but blaming him for this seems overboard.

But you have to admit it's opportunistic!!

If Neighbours + 1st is the best package they get then may as well wait till the trade deadline

Am I missing something on Neighbors?
The stats aren't overly impressive, and he's never played a full season.
I get that there's often more to a player than just stats, which is why I ask.

This guy, my only bet was the Flames would get 90+ points...nobody took me up on that though
I never said they would get to round 3...Which Tkachuk/Gaudreau never have FYI. 1 win in round two is their best after 8 years or whatever.
The Flames could easily be a better playoff team depending on what they do here though...Tkachuk/Gaudreau haven't exactly been the best playoff guys, you thought so yourself until they left the team.
