1. Bratt, for salary/cap reasons, he's also a good young top 6 forward, and bonus he's a Swede
2. Holtz, high end prospect who's already excelled at the AHL level. Also a Swede
3. Some sort of pick would be nice as well, don't know if you can get their 1st, especially without lottery protection
No center though, which sucks, but that would be a solid return.

Without John he's a 7M player that will be paid north of 10 and and Flames will save that space and get future assets.

All to be determined IMO. I certainly hope you are right but the fact that we are dealing with a select list of Tkachuk's destinations tells me this is not a "highest" value situation.

I don't think Hanifin gets Mercer + another asset.

Get your boots on. I don't think Jersey trades Mercer. Bratt is holding out on them and why I think he'd be available.

Wow the things that happen when you come home for lunch. Now were trading Hannafin as a throw in?

I want either:
Brat + Holtz + top 3-5 protected first
Mercer + Holtz + top 10 protected 1st but probably a 2nd is more likely
Kyrou + Neighbours + top 5 protected 1st
I would prefer the New Jersey package mostly because I want Holtz and I think New Jersey would be more willing to give up those assets compared to the Blues

Yikes.
GL Brad Treliving
By the looks of these expected returns on here he is going to get mauled by many CP posters when/if the trade is announced.

It isn't? Honest question....he's a 23 year old winger with 73 points last year. They may be able to sign him long term too.
vs.
Matthew Tkachuk...hes a 24 year old winger with 104 points last year, but the flames can't sign and can go UFA as early as next year.
on top of that you want one of NJ's best prospects who was a PPG in the AHL last year
.....and a 1st round pick?
You think NJ would do that?

No doubt...you take that and run. I honestly can't believe the what people are expecting in a return.

If Tkachuk's list of teams is very small and we aren't going to get a good return just bury him on the 4th line and screw him over for UFA

If the receiving team is getting a 24 year old 100 point player for 7/8 years then you bet.
Tkachuk carries name value/recognition/pest intangibles too.
A lot of GMs want that. And you can bet on that.
Calgary can't afford to be just ripped off for spare parts here. Get real.

What do you think they'll get if they trade him to a team with a 8 year deal? If the value isn't there then why trade him before arbitration?

Many of us have watched Tkachuk more than every GM in the league and most media members...I'm thrilled the hype train is going off the rails
Guy has amazing hands, good size, pisses people off...he skates worse than Lucic though and that isn't even exaggerating...the guy can't carry the puck up ice.
I think ppg will be a stretch for him moving forward
