It is really mind boggling that no other news outlets besides cbc are touching this story. I saw finally a few minutes ago the NY post picked it up but sportsnet and tsn have nothing still.

I wonder if he has threatened to sue news outlets proactively... something off here, this is a big story regardless of the outcome in court. If it were a famous actor or owner of another big company this would be in the press.

I get the edmonton hacks being too afraid to run it but the national outlets... makes no sense

Currently all we know is that Katz is being named in a countersuit from a couple who is being sued for sexual abuse by this woman. They're attempting to shift the blame by accusing Katz of engaging in underage prostitution by paying her 75k when she was 17 in exchange for sex.

The woman's legal team has denied it. Katz has denied it. There likely won't be any evidence the money was used in exchange of sexual services. The couples lawyers may not even be able to prove they had sex unless either admits to it.

We know a lot of money was exchanged and that Katz is a disgusting creep. However, those texts do not confirm the accusation. Even if they did have sex, if it can't be proven to be transactional then it was consensual according to the law.

I have ZERO doubt it's real, but unless they've buried the lead and have some really damning evidence that hasn't been presented, I don't think this is going to hold up in civil court let alone criminal.

The legal outcome is a totally different issue to me, an allegation of a rich old man who owns an nhl team paying a 17 year old for sex in this time and place would typically be chum in the water for online media and twitter folks these days. Whether or not he faces any legal repercussions I just find it very odd that no one is even reporting it or really talking much about it on twitter

You need to prove that responsibility is probable. I don't know how you can do that with a lack of evidence. If all these lawyers have are two screenshots that have no discussion or implication of an exchange of services, then I don't know how that gets them past the threshold.

Usually takes 72 to 98 hours to get a better sense .

Katz joined this prestigious organization in 2015 and since then they’ve released 5 stinkers and nothing at all for the last 4 years. Everything you listed was prior to his involvement. Guess he got on board solely to perv on young women because they sure haven’t done anything else of note since.
