What I really hate is that absolutely everything here is an absolute nightmare and yet everything up north just gets better and better. How many more GD years do we have to suffer with this s###!

They won't win anything.
Still so bad on defense and in goal.
We'll be on the way up when things fall apart for them in similar fashion in a couple years.
They haven't even claimed the division once while the Flames have won it twice.

Ya watching Kane sign at a reasonable deal and Keith retiring while this goes down is brutal.

I'd rather keep Chucky but as others have said, at least he's letting the team know. I appreciate that.
If he's gone, I'm glad every team knows......drive that asking price up and let's see who offers the best package. Kinda excited to see what they can get.

If we're rebuild/retooling, right around when those young players are getting into their prime should be when McD & Drai are pulling Gaudreau/Tkachuk moves of their own.

I was told that when Keith retired they experienced a real loss, that he was their best dman in the playoffs. So rest assured the Oilers have had a terrible offseason too.

I love your optimism but definitely don't share it. I just wanna punch a coiler fan in the head right now. Well I always wanna do that actually, but today would be a good day to do it.

It's going to be bad. That's just the timeline we are on it seems.
This one has Gilmour for Leeman potential written all over it.

Players retiring early or being bought out are how the Oilers win trades.

This isn't Sutter at the helm.
They'll get some good futures.
There was no good in the Phaneuf return.
The pessimism here is unreal. Y'all must be a boat load of fun irl.

No way. Treliving is light years better of a GM than Riser. He was a mess.
The Flames may not hit a home run but they'll get some nice pieces for sure. It won't be lopsided at all.

Sounds like it's St.Louis or somewhere else with a low state tax. Time to transition to a Carolina model of draft well and look for other teams cap problem.
I'd be getting to the point where I might consider Bill Wirtz'ing things out of spite to the players. Let them know I could spend....but nah I'll just hit the floor. Of course that's a terrible option. But no idea what the Flames can do. You're willing to pay guys, but they don't want your money. Never going to build a competitive team if that's the case. 7 years of player rights isn't enough time.

Stajan is a beauty of a person at least but all about setting my expectations low. Under promise and over deliver

If we somehow ended up with Stüzle out of this I would be ecstatic.

All this cap space is going to set the Flames up to make moves only a small handful of teams around the league can facilitate.
Expect that to also pay off in ways over the coming months.
This is going to allow Brad to operate differently, in a way he never has been able to before here as we've been a cap spending team forever. If there's one guy I can see taking advantage of that flexibility in creative ways, its Treliving.
