I think everyone needs to pump the brakes on the '100 point player' stuff. He did it once with a playmaker the likes he will likely never play with again.
He's a point per game guy with some grit and a high hockey iq. He also has his warts like every player including poor skating and poor impulse control at times.

Worth noting that Johnny actually flips the camera off at the end. Fitting.

Personally on the Oilers front, I can't wait. Ohh man are they ever enjoying this and being chirpy as heck on the socials(I don't blame them). 2026 can't come soon enough, I can't wait until McDavid leaves without winning a Cup and they're all crushed. I'm gonna be all over them about it and never let up, they deserve all of it.

He had Brouwer on the books too, so maybe the longterm Chuckie or Mangiapane money was tied up in Lucic/Neal and Brouwer.

Honestly, I think the NHL is going the way of the NFL/NBA, and star players jumping around will be a common thing, regardless of their country of origin. The world has changed, and the demographics of hockey players have changed. These aren't country boys making it to the big time. A large portion of the top end hockey players are now the financial elite, who've been groomed by elite private schools, coaches, and development programs.
Players will only play for the team they've been drafted on as long it will push their careers forward.

Yeah....woooooooo!!!! Great call.
ALL of ya should meet up with Brad for dinner and celebrate being the smartest people in the room.
Makes me wonder what Darryl is thinking right now? I'm betting good riddance .
All the swirling rumors and nonsense about this guy were accurate.
Selfish, self seeking son of a capital B.
Can we please have the rest of the players this thinking about jumping ship please just notify Brad immediately and end this f ing gong show.
Whoah this is bs.
|
How is this bs?
Why #### this guy?
Why does this make the player a son of B?
Should employees have no say in which company or location they work? I get hockey is way different so not fair to compare to average jobs but he owes Calgary nothing.
And, has in fact, handled himself in a way that allows us to recoup value.

Nah I think Matty Coronato will stick around, at least for his ELC.
The opportunity on this roster will be great for him.

I think we need to land Barzal out of this. Get super creative to make it happen, he can play a similar role to Johnny but in the middle, and with a ton of pressure off of him with Lindholm being the 1C
A three punch combo of Lindholm - Barzal - Backlund is great. We’ve always needed to be better down the middle. That’s the best center depth we’ve had since the cup winning team
A rebuild isn’t happening with Darryl and Edwards. Don’t fault anyone for wanting one, just would advise bracing the expectations there

Look the bottom line for me, is I believe that a team that tanks intentionally breaks their team for a magic bean pick is a rip off for the fans.
I mean its not like they're going to say, we're rebuilding, our team will be AHL bad for 3 years while we do this so we're charging AHL dollars for tickets.
The mandate for a club beyond doing everything they can to win a cup, is to supply good value for their dollar. and good entertainment for the dollar.
trading every good player with value for magic beans and hope and watching a subpar team stumbling around on the ice getting blown out, and people saying, well they're awful but they work hard. I could see attendance plummeting badly.
