Would ROR have to go on waivers? LOL

I think it’s time to start treating Americans just like Russians at the draft. Flight risk.

IMO signing Tkachuk to 4+ years should be first priority.
If that extension seems unlikely then if I’m GMBT I move him for the best possible package.

I can’t see Dube, Kyrou, or any other member of the 2018 WJH team being involved in trades until the HC/NHL investigations are completed.

There is a reason I don't get names or numbers on my jerseys anymore. I was thinking about a Gudbranson jersey for a minute or two last season. Bullet Dodged

I’m in rebuild camp, so I wouldn’t be too sad if Tkachuk was traded for futures. His performance in the playoffs was supremely disappointing and paying him for a career year that he will not match seems like a terrible idea. I could easily see another repeat of the awful 2021 season he had when when he lined up with mostly Lindholm and Dube.

Kyrou wasn't even there so I don't think it applies to him.

It's 8 years or trade in my eyes. Anything else is the wrong path in my eyes.

I wouldn't mind 5-6 personally. Gives the rest of the core another kick at the can and then can re-assess

If anything we should be more concerned about Dube. He hasn’t released a statement of non involvement yet.

5-6 would seem to be ideal for the team. The less years you have the guy in his 30s the better.

It's probably just the general feel of doom & gloom around the team but at this point I'd rather we just trade Tkachuk and start towards building around a new core.
Maybe it's overdramatic but I don't think the Flames go anywhere anytime soon with Tkachuk as our highest paid player.

I think Tkachuk would be open to signing a long term deal there, he is close with Matthews from the US program and Marner from London. Nylander is the obvious main piece coming back as he has never quite fit in there and the fan base has kind of soured in him, I am not sure why, great player. He would fit in nicely with our Swedish mafia here. As for other pieces I have no idea. They can't seem to sign Sandin, he would look good in our blueline. The Leafs are right up against the cap so not sure exactly what else comes cap dump wise but don't count Toronto out if Tkachuk is traded.

God, please no more talk of trades between Calgary and TO. Every time there's a trade between the two clubs, Calgary gets the over-aged crap while the they get the best and wins the trade by a long shot. Flames don't need to be boot-####ed again multiple times, especially by the same useless team that's located in the "center of this world".

That's fine, if there's something to be added, there's some other equivalents.

I would do 6 and wouldn't even blink.
That would walk him into UFA with his brother and I would totally understand that pull.
But wouldn't want to do another shorter multi-year deal.

Honestly it's impossible for us to say without knowing what the actual trades being offered are.
If the best offer is Tarasenko + 1st (just an example) and the option is also on the table for something like a 3 or 4 year x $9.5M contract...then you should sign him and re-visit a trade in a year or two.

ROR would be an amazing "cap dump" guy is still a player... obviously I don't want him as the main guy but Sutter/ROR would be something.
